I’ve reached a hurdle in the application process and I’m not sure if things are going to come together in time. I’m going to contact admissions as soon as possible but I’d like to see if anyone else could shed some light.
I’m transferring from a community college to MSU. My grades are in good shape. I got all my application materials to MSU in January and I heard back from them this weekend. They said everything else looks good, but they would refrain from making a decision on admission until they saw my final grades from the current semester (this is probably because I’m currently taking a class required for transfer consideration).
This isn’t unreasonable but it places me in an awkward situation. I don’t know my final grades for the current semester until the first week of May, and MSU’s Advanced Enrollment Deposit (AED) is due by May 1. The deposit apparently allows you to then register for housing and sort of “holds your place.” At best, I would estimate that MSU would have my grades by mid-May and then however much longer it takes them to make their decision, but this seems way, way too late. Do these deadlines not apply to transfers or do you think I’m gonna have to wait until winter?
