Ever since applying to colleges/universities I’ve become more and more interested in Graphic design as an actual career path. I was able to get an internship, work more on my AP art portfolio, create a few things for local businesses and I realize this is something I can actually see myself doing. Sadly I didnt have this realization until after applying…
So that leads to my dilemma. I did not apply as any type of art major to any of my colleges, and the colleges I did get into don’t really offer a true graphic design program. An example of this is UC Santa Cruz, this is my top school based completely off of location, and the vibe that surrounds it. I applied as Environmental Studies, however I’m debating between this and graphic design and sadly this school does not offer any major targeted toward graphic design, so I would not even get this option. They do offer film/digital media, however, I’m pretty sure that’s not what I’m looking for.
If I were to pursue graphic design what would you guys believe my best route is? Go to community college and transfer to a 4 year for graphic design, or simply go to a college like UCSC and try to find a program that may work for me, then maybe try to transfer to another UC or college that offers what I’m looking for?
Any input would be great, thank you
