Possible Reach, But Maybe?

I’ve got a list of about 6 schools but Duke is definitely my number 1 and my dream school. I have outstanding test scores, and the most rigorous curriculum my high school offers, but I got a lot of B’s because of homework. I will be applying early decision since the acceptance rate was around 25% last I checked. My ec’s aren’t amazing but I’m still sorta involved.

I want to pursue ECE, but may also second major in COMPSCI and would like a minor in African American Studies, and I’m an African American male from South Carolina with income around ~80k

GPA: 3.36 unweighted, 4.37 weighted (I’ve only had 1 year on SC’s new 6 point scale)

Rank: 61/293 at top 5 high school in state

ACT: 35 composite 34 math and english 36 science and reading (took once last year)

SAT: 1460 composite 790 math 670 reading (score is “sent” but not sure whether to report on application)

AP’s: 5 on AB Calc, Human Geography, 4 on Physics 1 & 2, world history; currently taking BC Calc, Chemistry, US Government, Macroeconomics, Literature, Seminar (first ap capstone class)

academic leadership academy (program sponsored by center for creative leadership)

recs: can get 10/10 rec from calculus teacher and 7-9/10 rec from physics teacher

essays: will be 9-10/10 with much review from english department at school

Any thing I could do to strengthen my application before November 1st would be will appreciated

“chance” threads aren’t going to tell you if you’ll get in or not. You have a fine chance at Duke, and applying ED is a major boost to your chances. The only thing you can control about with your application now is your essay. There are lots of books out there that can help you out with this :slight_smile:
