I was recently admitted to UCLA engineering. However, I was told by a friend that we have to report D's and F's we received even if we made them up. I received a D in my freshman year (9th grade) in Honors Biology A during my first semester. Second semester I took regular Biology B and got an A. I took regular biology A during summer school and received a B in the class. I did not know I was supposed to report this to UC's because my counselors told me that it cancelled the D out if I retook the class. It was an honest mistake on my behalf. Do you know if this will affect my acceptance? Will it be rescinded?

I’m sure you’ll be okay. The make-up grade should appear on your transcript instead of your D :)

I really hope so
The problem is that on my uc transcript it shows only the B and the A I received
Whereas my official transcript shows the D and the B and the A

Has this ever happen to anyone else?

I am sure it is fine. By showing the B and A, colleges see you actually cared enough about your grades to retake a class.

It might be a good idea to contact admissions anyway. Although I’m pretty sure you’re fine, you’re better off safe than sorry. And I think admissions staff would appreciate knowing about this ASAP; in fact it will probably help to get it out of the way so you will seem more “honest” and it won’t raise red flags later.

Oh okay thanks guys! I feel much better now
Should I call them first and then email?

I have a rescind question as well:
I signed up to take AP Calc AB at the beginning of the year so I wrote that on all of my apps: UCs and privates included. However, because I excelled my Calc teacher decided to move me up to the BC class and gave me BC credit for the 1st semseter. Will schools freak out about this?

Something similar to that happened to me as well. I signed up to take macro and micro exam, but I will only be taking the macro. Will this affect me in anyway?

What happened with your situation did you receive any clarification? I know someone who got a F (in an a-g course) and he’s looking for clarification on how to make it up and how to report it on the uc application next year.

It happened in 9th grade and I thought the UCs didn’t look at 9th and 12th grade classes …

Do you guys think they take non-academic schedules into account? I’ve been on swim team for three years but I didn’t swim this year as I had reported on my application.

I reported the status change on the new bruins website and I am waiting for their response. It’s been 13 days since I sent it & I still have not received any email regarding my admission status
I’ll keep you guys updated

StaigerTiger … No. They only care about the academic stuff. Unless, of course, you are a recruited athlete!

Caliboy, have you gotten a response from UCLA?

Yes I have. They emailed me yesterday after 13 days and told me that my acceptance offer still stands. I’m going to be a Bruin! :D

Awesome! So it’s confirmed UCLA won’t revoke admission if you don’t take ap tests that you said you will?

Yes that’s what I was told. They said they care more about the class itself.
