How likely would it be for UVA to rescind a decision based on a single honor code violation? I have truly learned my lesson and my principal is actually willing to write me a letter to substantiate my claims. I do not even have to report it as my school does not do so automatically. Please try to answer my original question and any further advice is greatly appreciated!
UVa takes academic integrity VERY seriously. For example, every student (undergraduate and postgraduate/professional) is required to sign a detailed “pledge” regarding academic honesty. In addition, I know of several undergraduates (neighbors, children of friends and colleagues, and so forth) who were suspended/expelled for plagiarism and other types of cheating. For these reasons, I suspect UVa may be tougher on this issue for those admitted – but not yet matriculated – than, perhaps, some other universities might be. Having your principal write such a letter certainly will enhance your case.
@TopTier is there anything else I can do to increase the chance of my possibility to still go there?
@joker258: Be prepared to explain what you did, why you did it, and especially what you learned as a result. And do so with absolute contrition, assuming FULL responsibility, without ANY cockiness or excuses, and making it very clear that you will stoically accept all the consequences.
