Possible safety schools???

I'm a rising senior with a 3.8 uw GPA. my SAT scores are weak (1620/2400), but I've been doing prep for the next one which will be in Oct. and I'm hoping to boost my score by atleast 200 points. I've got lots of ECs and community service. currently, I've got BU, Penn State, Syracuse, American, Bentley, Fordham, George Washington, and UMASS Amherst on my list. I feel that I should add some more safety schools because they are all high match and low reach.
Any suggestions?

Take a long hard look at the list of test optional schools at [The National Center for Fair & Open Testing | FairTest](http://www.fairtest.org) You should find some places there that you like that won’t care about your SAT score.

Also, sit down with an ACT prep book and take a couple practice exams. You might do significantly better on the ACT than on the SAT.

What are you wanting to major in?

RK, do as happymom suggests but also get going to get in some early apps. and do choose some safeties based on your current stats. You do need some safeties. I assume you are interested in majoring in business. I would put some schools on that list like Hofstra, Quinnipiac (if they are still rolling apply as early as possible), Roger Williams, Bryant College, Sienna, LeMoyne are a few that I think of safeties. You might look into Marist as a match school too.

These are all private schools (listed above). Are you going to look into some public Us as well?

Thanks for the replies everyone =)

I want to major in business and minor in psychology. i took AP Psych junior year and really liked it… haven’t gotten my AP score yet, but im confident that i did well.

@northeastmom: Thanks for the list. I’ll definitely look into them! I do want to look into some Public universities… UCONN and UMASS are the two on my list right now…

^^UCONN is fairly difficult to get into for business. I don’t know if you are instate or not and how that might change an admission outcome.

For a public match you might look into Towson, but again apply early (they used to have rolling admissions, but I do not know what it is this year). Also, you might want to look into one of the SUNYs. Sunys are easier to get into from out of state IMO (ie: Suny Bing).

I’m in state, and its pretty easy for in state students to get in from what i know.
My college counselor recommended SUNY Bing as well  they have a good business program.

Yes, Suny Bing does. It is not a safety for you though, IMO. I think it is a high match if your SAT scores do not increase. UCONN has a very good business program too.
