Possible sign of deferral?

I just got e-mailed for an alumni interview on 2/15 or 2/22... I applied ED2 and will find out whether or not i got in tomorrow... I have no clue what I should do... I think I'm probably going to e-mail my interviewer back Monday after finding out whether or not a got in. Any other suggestions?

It is NOT a sign of deferral. The volunteer alumni interviewer either didn't think about your being ED2 or forgot the ED2 deadline. I think you have the right plan. If you are deferred, schedule the interview.

I've read on here about a lot of people who got offered interviews after being accepted (or conversely denied I guess). Anyways, I think the interview is more than just a part of your application. It is a chance for you to ask questions and get answers from someone who went to Tufts. This person can tell you things admissions officers may not, like about professors and dorm life and night life, etc. So you should keep the interview, because if nothing else, you can find out more about the school before you go.

I think the main reason this happens is that your application status is just one narrow column in a spreadsheet, and once assigned, the students don't go away after their deadlines. For example, ED1 kids who haven't yet been interviewed remain in the system, regardless of their having been accepted, deferred, or denied. It's good for the deferred kids who might still like an interview, but it would be easy for a volunteer to mess up and contact an accepted or denied applicant.

kid112 is right, interviewers are ready and able to help you out even after you've been accepted. Most of us won't try to oversell the school, just help you make the best choice for you.

i got denied... what should i do now?

sorry to here that man, but there's nothing you can do.

i mean like about my interviewer... not e-mailing her back would be just rude lol

ah. i would just send her a polite email telling her that you were denied.

is there any chance an interview can make them re-review my application?

No. This particular ship has sailed however, there's another boat that will surely come along to get you on your way soon enough.

Sorry about the disappointing news, but I think it's best to mourn the disappointment for a day or two and then take a second (3rd, 4th) look at other school to which you applied with fresh eyes.

Jeez, I'm really sorry Rsmattu. But no, an interview can't reopen an application. It would be super-polite for you to take mukster's advice and send the email. Then hold your head up, and start thinking about your other schools.
