@smushpie:

Huh? There’s no maximum GPA for TAG. The basic requirements are:

GPA 3.0 or above by the fall prior to your transfer

All math/English courses required to satisfy IGETC finished by fall prior to your transfer

IGETC completed before transfer

There are other requirements as well, but those are the big ones.

You get rejected for TAG if you don’t meet the requirements. Also, TAG guarantees you admission to the university, but not a major. It really only matters for non-impacted majors, at which point it’s virtually a guarantee if you meet the program requirements.

so they don’t just look at your UC GPA? its cumulative? for TAG

No, I should have been more specific. Regardless of whether or not you’re on TAG, UCs only care about your UC-transferable GPA.

sorry about my last post, I was thinking of asking my question but its all gibberish

I meant how about you have 3.0 or 3.3 GPA before transfering (UC transferable courses GPA), is that sufficient enough for getting into TAG successfully? (I don’t want to get rejected; all other requirement I can comply but I am afraid that having a minimum GPA would not get me into TAG; rejected), and also about the quarter units, do you absolutely have to have a total of 60 UC transferable units before transfer (spring quarter), how about you have less than 60?

someone told me that getting into TAG depends on what major you choose to go to as stated by TAG and what school, I don’t know if this is right

TAG “technically” guarantees you admission to the school, but not a major. That’s why TAG students are supposed to apply to a non-impacted major as their secondary major if their primary is impacted. TAG does nothing for impacted majors, but virtually guarantees non-impacted majors if you meet all requirements. It isn’t stated that way, but in reality that’s what it is.

You only need 30 semester (45 quarter) units by spring in order to qualify for TAG admission in the fall.

To make this incredibly simple:

Non-impacted majors TAG “unofficially” guaranteed.

Impacted majors makes TAG useless when being considered for admission to that major.
