I am rejected by JHU. Is it possible to appeal to the admission office? coz I heard that there is formal appeal process for some colleges like Brown and Duke. Anyone know about it? Thanks for any input.

if you did that that would be ridiculous. They rejected you, get over it. All the big schools get more qualified applicants than they can admit so don't worry about it.

yeah, i think the whole idea of appeals in general is dumb.

pick up a transfer app next year and good luck.

I you were admitted at other top schools, tell JHU and they'll take you more seriously and possibly give you another look...

however, if you were rejected at ALL the top 20 schools you applied to, why should jhu care about you? they have hundreds on their waitlist...

thx for the replies... actually I have thought of transferring, but I heard that transferred students would lose many credits. And it is difficult to adapt to a new environment again especially when ppl don't treat u like a freshman. It's like students already form their own social circle and it is hard to get in the circles.

JHU accepts admission decision appeals. From their online admissions FAQ (http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/rdfresh.html#rd_deny):

How can I appeal the decision?
You may submit an appeal in writing to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions. You may include supplemental supporting documents (e.g. additional letters of recommendation, transcripts including marking periods beyond your Mid-Year Report, etc.) Given our time constraints for the month of April, we may not be able to respond to your appeal until early May.

go to the College Board website. they have all the transfer statistics. you can't plan on getting into any prestigious college on transfer!

dont let some of these people phase you.. i think if you are really that keen, then you should appeal. there is no harm in trying. how much can they really know about a person from their app?

yeah, I agree. go for it. :)

thanks so much for the information and support, guys!!!
