Can someone please help me figure out what my rank is? I'm not going to find out for a while, but I really would like to have an estimate. I attend a large public school in CT. There is a very wide gap between H's/AP students and the rest of the student body. My school is made up of about 45% minorities. I'd say about 15 out of 500+ are admitted to top 25 universities each year.

My W GPA will be 4.44
(I took 2 out of 5 offered H's my freshman year, all H's sophomore year & I took 4 AP's & 2 H's this year)

Valedictorian will have around a 4.80.

AP classes count as .07
Honors classes count as .05

We're only allowed to take AP's beginning in junior year.

I’m not sure how accurate this is, but I divided: 4.44/4.80=92.5 or 93%. So definitely in the top tenth percentile.

Haha, that’s an interesting way to calculate rank! Thanks :]

I thought I might be in the top 12 just because I know which classes each person is taking and how studious they are. There actually aren’t that many competitive students in my graduating class.

Wait, am I missing something? How the heck would we know?

I really don’t know… I thought that maybe someone else who goes to a not-so-competitive public school could tell me where someone with my W GPA falls.

Uhhh. Weighted GPA varies hugely by school, and besides, we have no clue what the other kids in your school have.

If your GC knows your decile, she’ll put it on her rec. If she doesn’t, she won’t, and colleges just won’t have your rank to take into consideration.
