I’d like to get some shadowing done while I am home and have free time, but I leave back to University in 3 - 4 weeks. I’ve had some trouble finding shadowing opportunities, and for those clinics that do offer it, they usually have a background check process that lasts a few weeks. Do you guys know of if some clinics offer shadowing ASAP?
@honcho Try private Docs or small practice group. Few weeks is normal. In CA biggest health group it took just only 4 months to complete the process though my D’s Doc agreed the right away when she contacted. We our happy at least she could shadow for 2 days this month before went back to school.
@GoldenRock Thanks so much. I’m interested in shadowing an Orthopedic Surgeon, do you suggest I do that now or in the summer after my sophomore year since I’d have more time? If I should do it later, I’d shadow a different practice this summer.
@honcho Grab any opportunity. It does not matter whether you do in your home town during breaks or in college town when you are in school. It does not matter which specialty. Does not matter how long they allow, just 4 hours or few days or weeks. But remember, it takes lot of time to grab an opportunity and every where it will go thru some process, paper work etc and you need to anticipate and bake in that time.
