The first time I took the ACT I received a 31 with no preparation as a junior. I just bought the ACT red book and will study over the summer, then be retaking in the September-November range. What are the chances/how many of you have raised your ACT from 31 to above a 33?

I’ve raised mine from a 25 to a 33. So yes, getting a 33+ is definitely doable. In fact, if you really tried, you could probably get a 35 or 36.

Thanks for the input. I’m a little worried, but I have 4 months or more to study with the red book so hopeful I can get at least a 34

4 months is plenty of time. What are your sub-scores?

i got a 29 the first time i took it, i then got 33 on my second test, and 35 on my third and last test! so yea it’s definitely doable as long as you practice, practice, practice.

My daughter got 31 during her prep class and scored 35 at her first ACT 9 months later after preparation.

You can definitely get it up! I went from a 31 two (three?) years ago to a 36 this year, without much studying. Since you’re spending the summer studying, I’d say you have a fair chance!
