Possible to get rejected after being accepted?

Is it possible to get rejected after being accepted for transfer? I was accepted for Winter '13 semester as a transfer student from MSU, with a 3.58 and 30 completed/16 pending credits, but decided to stay at State for another semester to get some of my required sciences done. What would need to happen for me not to get accepted for Fall '13 semester upon applying again? i.e. if my GPA were to drop to possibly a 3.4? If it counts for anything, this year I did start at the Honors College, joined 6 clubs (having had none upon my last acceptance) and took biology and organic chemistry together. Right now I have 46 credits with 14 pending for next semester. Thanks.

Well, yes, the competitive pool could have changed, or they might have decided you weren’t actually serious about transferring and now be reluctant to offer an admission to a known “non-yielder”. You may want to check in with your admissions officer to find out!

If your GPA dropped to 3.4 that means you got 3.06 this semester. That’s pretty low and not attractive to the university. It’s definitely no guarantee.

Your acceptance may get rescinded, but generally not for a minor grade drop (though you shouldn’t let yours drop any further and should try to get them higher); usually for criminal convictions.

@Vladenschlutte Actually I got a 3.25 this semester (bringing my overall specifically to a 3.47). Previously, I’ve called them about five times due to doubt in their replies, but when asking for estimated GPA requirements they’ve told me either 3.3-3.6 or 3.2-3.5 for most successful transfer applicants, but since I’m still not quite sure I can believe that I’ll take it with a grain of salt.

@kmcmom13 I understand those possibilities, but I’m just talking specifically in terms of my GPA. My main reason for not transferring was because of my MET account not being able to transfer funds for next semester to another university on the short notice of my acceptance, which I intend on explaining to them, including that I am able to transfer them to Michigan next year and therefore will definitely be able attend upon being accepted again. Basically I just want to know about my GPA dropping by ~0.1 being a likely factor in rejection, assuming the competitive pool stays relatively the same.

@emberjed Thanks, that answers my question. I understand circumstances such as competitive pool changing for the worst or admissions not having faith in my response to acceptance this time around but my main concern is just my GPA being lower than it was originally when I was accepted (3.47 as opposed to 3.58 initially).
