<p>Yes, he's back again with a stupid rank question. I was looking over Harvard's app and saw the rank spot, it said you could put a percentile in. Even if you know your exact rank, can you put a percentile in? Or even leave it blank? I have yet to go through the admissions process, so cut me some slack ;)</p>
<p>It's not up to you it's up to your guidance counselor. If you are very concerned about it you might ask your GC to do this just for you, but most schools have a consistent policy (meaning they rank or don't rank every kid from their school in the exact same way).</p>
<p>So instead of them writing 16 or 17/370 I could just have them write "Top 5%"? That would work well for me. Still, I don't think my school will do that.</p>
<p>If the highest division your school will send out is top 5%, then all the kids in your class who were in that top 5% would have the highest tier marked. That helps the lower top 5 percenters and hurts the Val.</p>
<p>I think it should all be percentiles, save for maybe a val and sal.</p>
<p>In that case, I'd hate to be number 3.</p>
