why do you say: "For NY, take NYU, for Chi-town, take Northwestern" .. I would prefer to end up in Ny but i dont feel where i go to school will have any influence on where i end up working... NYU has a class of what ? about 2000 or so no? how many people are hired in ny every year ...probably at least 50-100 thousand....

i know that transferring from CAS to stern is supposed to be really difficult.. but what kind of first year grades/activities do u need to have the best possible chance of transferring??
i applied to CAS and not to stern because i wanted to maximise my chances of getting into NYU.. applying directly to stern would have cut my chances... although CAS econ is also amazing and its an amazing alternative to studying at stern.. but im just curious to know what it takes to get from CAS to stern... can anyone help me?

Thats not true at all. Of course, if you're from a good school and you've got what it takes, you can go anywhere you want; but the fact remains, certain schools are stronger in certain geographical areas (eg. NYU on the east coast, and Northwestern in the midwest).

Umm, read this thread more carefully from the beginning, its an INTERNAL transfer, its not based on grades and activities (you'll probably need a bare min. gpa of some sort which shouldn't be too hard, but actitivities aren't considered). There are no availalbe stats for this kind of thing, I'm not even sure NYU would keep track of it....its something you'll have to consider once you get there.
