I am applying to colleges this fall and I want to go to Berkeley, but I think it is a low reach. I want to get there as quickly as possible so I was wondering if I could transfer after one year from CC? I know you need 60 credits, but I am expected to have about 31 AP credits so that means I need to complete 29 credits. Can I apply to UC berkeley in my freshman year and also if for some reason I get rejected can I then apply again the following year?

Yea you can apply, but the chances of you getting in that early are sad to say a longshot. The reason being that there are already more then enough amounts of pepole who have been at CC for 2 or three years who have all of there pre reqs completed for their major with a high GPA and cant get still in because of the sheer amount of students applying and the ones who arent yet graduating. So how are you suppose to compete with a student who already has 80+ Units towards his major with a high GPA? these are your competition, which is why UCs only look at students over 60 units. Try USC, if your GPA is 3.5 or higher you should have a good shot getting in their if you want to transfer early real badly. They allow students with under 30 units to transfer. If not, just suck it up for two years and grind hard, and then you can get into any school you’d wish in the country.

Edit, If your AP credits are sufficient for your major, and you have a really high GPA 3.7+, you might have a good shot actually. But it all depends, you should really talk to a counselor.
