Possible topic?

Hi!

I'm working on essays. A possible topic I thought of seems pretty interesting to me, but it's just a unique experience I had, so I don't know if anyone else would like it.

I broke my eardrum at lifeguard training, went to the doctor, put green silly putty in it so I could swim, silly putty got suction-cupped into my inner ear and exploded, had a bunch of surgeries but it's still in there. I have been swimming since I was 2 years old and still do. I was thinking I could write about how life goes on or you can't predict it or how I experienced a major setback doing something I loved and how I coped with it and continued swimming.

I was planning on making the introduction slightly humorous, since I feel like the story overall is strange and somewhat unusual/a funny story, but in the end, tell about what I have learned from this multiple year long experience and how it translates into general life.

Good idea?

It sounds pretty good to me, and having a funny take on it seems apt. It could definitely lend itself to a really strong intro too, because not many people can say they have Silly Putty in their body… Or at least, not many people should be able to… Ha. :') Good luck

Aside from criminal activity and drugs/illegal substances, there really aren’t good/bad topics, just good/bad writing.
