Possible transfer from CP SLO to UC DAVIS?

Hi everyone!

I’m currently a freshman at Cal Poly SLO for Communication Studies, but I’ve been considering transferring to UCD (and applying to other UCS as well) for a while now. I was originally waitlisted and then rejected from UC Davis as a senior in high school (which absolutely broke my heart but CPSLO was my #2 school so it was great in the end), but I just don’t feel like I belong here (?).

I currently have a 3.7 GPA, but that might go down because of the classes I’m taking this quarter. I’m in COMS club, but I haven’t been able to join any other clubs.

If I did want to transfer, I was thinking of two options: staying at Poly and just applying as a transfer for junior year at Davis or drop out of Poly at the end of this year, go to community for the soph year. and then hopefully get in at Davis with TAG.

I’m really stuck right now. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you :slight_smile:

Also !! I know CSU students get 3rd priority for transfer admission with CC being first and other CSUs being second. I just really need some insight if possible. I’m also an in-state student if that helps.

If you decide to go to a CC, then you do get priority as a Transfer and it allows you to TAG to UCD which is your goal.

However, with all CSU’s and UC’s on-line this year, for many Freshman it has been difficult to feel connected to the schools and have that first year college experience. You may want to give it more time at SLO since it was your #2 school for a reason.

Community college will be always there as a backup. Just remember you need to do what is best for you and not what other people recommend. Best of luck.
