Possible transfer...

I currently attend a small liberal arts college in MA, but I'm looking to transfer to NU. What are the worst things about NU? I got wrapped up in the flowery language of this place and then I found out it's hell. I want to know everything before I apply. Thanks :>

buckeye fan?

the worst thing i've heard about nu is the social life, but that's usually something that ends up being what you make of it. i've heard everything from its a school of dorks who think they're cool because they drink to full of pretentious ivy-league rejects, but with around 7,000 students i'm not that worried about it.

I haven't really got the pretentious vibe yet.

Ivy-league rejects? More like HYP rejects but then so are those in just about every non-HYP school (except MIT/Stanford). NU holds its own when compared to the lower Ivies--as selective as Cornell and more ranked programs than Brown. NU also has programs in schools of journalism, communications, and engineering that almost no Ivy can match (except Cornell/Princeton in engineering).

um NU is a great school. It does hold its own ground. DO NOT GO TO A SCHOOL BASED ON PRESTIGE...BAD MOVE. I really regret coming to cornell and i chose it in part of its prestige around the country and affiliation with ivy league, but was i wrong about a lot of stuff and I learned a lot in the last 2 months here.

I'm not basing my decision on prestige...I just need to get the hell out of here. Thanks though. :>

My biggest tip would just be to visit, if it's at all possible...every school has its own vibe...not good or bad, just different. I found that coming to visit NU, it seemed to fit me just right. However, Vassar, BU, many other good schools just were not right for me, and I could tell the moment I visited.
