<p>If the deadline is January 1, then generally (if not always–I really don’t know) the December SAT is acceptable. I didn’t take any tests in December so I don’t know by experience. I think schools are a bit flexible on SAT score reports and allow score reports to arrive after the January 1 deadline. For example, Princeton says:

<p>As you can see, some colleges even accept the January SAT. If you are worried about some sort of delay on the College Board’s part, then you could try rush reporting. If you look up your question or the phrase “rush reporting” on this site (or Google), you’ll probably hear a lot about a lot of students worried about the same exact thing.</p>
