Possiblility of being Rescinded from UCSC?

Here is my report card for my second semester of senior year so far; I only have 5 classes this semester.

Digital Imaging (Fine Arts class): A-
AP Biology: D-
AP English: B-
AP Calc AB: C-
Economics: B

My unweighted GPA so far is a 2.6 .. but my weighted GPA is definitely at least a 3.00 which is one of the requirements in order to keep UCSC's offer of admission.

I called today and talked to an Admissions Evaluator and told her about my situation, and she said that she would put a note in my file stating that I did notify the school of my situation ahead of time.

Again, these are not my FINAL grades, but if my grade in AP Biology does not improve, will I be rescinded for sure? I heard rumors of being allowed to make up a course in summer school or doing other things over the summer if the University sees that you did not just wait until the last day of school to tell them that you are in danger of not maintaining a grade of "C" or better in all of your courses.

Any advice or comments as to what other people with similar situations in the past have done or what I ought to do, besides try my best to ace my AP Biology final, is GREATLY appreciated!

Second semester in my senior year of HS I didn’t do very well either. I got not one, but two D’s. I really didn’t have any extenuating circumstances that caused my bad grades, I just had a major case of senioritis.

I didn’t take the initiative to notify the admissions officers about my poor performance; I just sent in my transcript after graduation.

I did, however, write one hell of a Letter of Explanation to my college provost. I checked with the admissions officers during summer orientation and I wasn’t rescinded. I basically said that I was stressed out because I was involved with too many commitments my second semester: I had a job, was involved in a sport, as well as a few other EC’s. I didn’t lie about my commitments, but I did stretch the truth, because if I was actually determined I could have easily passed my classes. I also made an effort to convey a tone of humility and acknowledgment regarding my poor grades.

So don’t lose all hope if you do indeed get a D in AP bio. Just make sure you write a very, very good letter of explanation if you have to.

Other than that I can’t really say much else. Good luck.

I got my admission withdrawn after getting a D in AP Lit and F in Speech; problem with the teacher.

I had already made up the classes and when my college counselor called said it was just the fact that I did not meet the conditions of admission. gl

I think you’re on the right track. I would continue to be proactive and if at all possible get a letter in to someone to explain your situation before it becomes an issue of your offer being rescinded. If it is rescinded, perhaps you can try an appeal.
