Post Application to the CSU

OH! Yay!!! Okay so, if I am also eligible for Cal Grant and work study how do I get those?
Also I did some research and it said that NOT all CSU’s superscore the ACT put I am just going to trust you. Lasty, I called the ACT yesterday and they told me that I am going to need to send both my ACT scores to each Cal State indivisually so it’s going to be like $150! But you said I only need to send them officially because to one. So does the ACT lady not know what she’s talking about?

On an unrelated note, Northridge is being weird and requesting their own things here I copied and pasted the Incompete Tasks Checklist:

WHY on Earth is Northridge being like this? I called San Diego State yesterday and they didn’t need anything from me apparently so why is Northridge being so annoying.

The CSU’s will share your ACT scores so you only need to send each ACT score (2 sittings) to one campus and they will share the scores. Not sure why they said you have to send the ACT scores individually, but since you are nearing the deadline for some of the schools, it may take time for them to download all scores to all the schools.

Each CSU campus can determine what information they want from an applicant. Since you are not a local applicant to many of the campuses you applied, they will often ask for in-progress Senior year transcripts and also College transcripts for the classes you took at Cuesta. This is not unusual so just comply with their requests.

San Diego state will ask for your Mid-year Senior transcripts if you are accepted and then final transcripts if you enroll.

CSU Fullerton is another CSU that will ask for Mid-year in-progress Senior year transcripts before they admit applicants so if you applied there, you may also get a request.

Just continue to check each schools portal to make sure you have nothing on your “to do” list.

Regarding Cal Grants, here is the information: Follow these simple steps to apply for a Cal Grant.
Step 1: Apply. Complete the FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application by March 2nd.
Step 2: File your GPA. File a certified grade point average (GPA) with us no later than March 2nd. (This is usually done by your High School counselor)
Step 3: Go! Financial Aid Checklists. Explore Colleges. Need Help? 888.224.7268.

So right now I don’t have the “best” grade in Honors Anatomy & Physiology per say, so would Northridge be like “oh nevermind you can’t come to our school anymore byeee” ?
Also Long Beach was the only schhol that wouldn’t let me make a portal. I made a portal for ALL other five of them but Long Beach because it was being weird. I have my ID and it said I couldn’t make one until I got accepted but that doesn’t make sense if the other ones let me. Like what heck.
Also, how/when will I know if I am admitted through the EOP or regular admin for all the CSU’s? How does it even work I am still confused where does my application go first and are they currently in the process of reviewing them or are they waiting for me to send them all the stuff they want first post my CSU Application completion submission. When will be I notified if it’s through EOP or regular admin?

Here how to make your CSULB student portal.

** You will be required to enter your CSULB Campus Identification number to access this service. Your Campus ID is the nine-digit number found in the bottom right hand corner of all Enrollment Services communications. Please make note of this number as it will be required to access your admission information.

There is a link for application status on this provided link: http://www.csulb.edu/admissions/applicant-self-service

Go to application status**

The purpose of asking for Mid-year transcripts is to make sure you are on track to graduate. If you are getting C’s or higher, then you are still Ok for passing your classes. Yes, showing you are doing well does help your chances so keep working hard and try to raise your grades.

The majority of CSU’s will start notifying applicants through their student portals of their admission decisions in February. Since EOP has additional requirements, you would need to be acceoted into the University first and then hear about EOP.

Okay thank you.

Sorry about the typos. Just send in the information requested. If you applied to a well balanced list of schools, you will have options.

I already got my FAFSA back and my EFC was 0 and it was proccessed and stuff. Then I got an email on the 3rd saying I need to do the data retrieval tool but WHAT THE HECK I already did it and it said it was OPTIONAL and I’ve already gotten emails from Sonoma and San Diego saying they recieved my FAFSA stuff.

Admisions and the financial aid office do not always coordinate their information. I would contact the FA office to confirm that all the documentation is complete.

Welcome to College admissions.

I knew this process was disorganized but OH MY GOSH this is driving me kind of crazy because I’ve always been an organized person. Also I called the ACT again today and this time a man said that if I send me scores to just one CSU they will all share it with each other. I KNEW the lady was wrong I could hear it in her voice. She just wanted to get off the phone as soon as possible haha.

I also just sent my two ACT scores to CSULB so hopefully it will be processed and shared soon. Estimate of how long it will take?
Moreover, I sent my offical Cuesta College Transcript to CSUN because they were asking for it. An estimate as to when that will be cleared from my To-Do list as well? Thanks!

For Test scores, it could be up to 2 weeks for your ACT scores to be received and downloaded. Regarding your College transcript, it could be up to a month. If it is still on your “to do list” in January (after the holidays) then I would call admissions to check.

Unfortunately with the amount of applicants to all these schools along with the Holiday break coming up, admissions does get behind. Be the squeaky wheel and continue to monitor your portals and call admissions if there are any issues.

I WILL be the squeaky wheel!

So since I already sent my ACT scores to CSULB (and I know it could take a while for them to share them with the other CSU’s) but I just wanted to be sure that they know that I sent them in before the deadline. I just don’t want them to think I never sent them or sent them late and toss my application in the trash?

You can communicate through your student portals and let the schools know you have ordered the scores. At this point, all you can do is wait and check the portals to make sure the scores have been received and downloaded.

So I have a D in Anatomy Honors and I asked the teacher what I can do to help with my grade and he basically told me I’m screwed and it’s my fault. Oh he also did this in front of two other students so that was nice!
Anyways, my counselor told me that I should try and get a C or higher but if I don’t then that’s okay and my admission won’t be tossed in the trash. She said this because since I already took 3 years of science, this won’t effect me except for the fact that it will bring down my GPA. IS this true? Now obviously, I am going to work hard and try and get at least a C so no need to repeat that to me. Just curious.

@“Classiest2002@me” ::All Colleges accept you with a provisional admission. This means that you have to meet the requirements set forth by each school for Senior year grades and GPA.

For the majority of CSU’s, the provisional admission requirements means getting a C- or higher in all a-g courses taken Senior year. It can vary from campus to campus but based on the schools you applied such as SDSU and SLO, a D in Anatomy would be grounds for your acceptance to be rescinded regardless if you have met the CSU Science requirements.

At this point, I would do whatever you need to do to get that grade up to a C- or higher. If you do end up getting that D, then you need to contact each school you applied and let them know about the D and what you can do to maintain your acceptance.

The UC’s provisional admission requirements for all campuses except UCLA/UCB, includes a 3.0 weighted UC GPA for Senior year and no D’s or F’s. Again, if you end up with a D in the course, you need to contact the UC’s.

This is not doom or gloom since most schools will try to work with you and if you can get your grade up to an acceptable level by year’s end, then you could be OK but letting them know early in the process is vital.

Do not give up now and wait until your final semester grade or is the D the final grade for the semester?

The D is not the final grade. Next week is finals.

I only applied to the CSU’s so do what should I do? Besides calling the schools of course.

Study like you have never studied before and ace that final to get your grade up to a C or higher.

If your final semester grade is a D, then you will have to notify the schools. For any of the schools that are requesting a Mid-year Senior transcript, you will have to address the bad grade Now. For the rest of the CSU’s, I would wait until you get your admission decision and then notify them about what can be done if anything to maintain that acceptance.

I feel sick to my stomach now.
Anways, I wanted to know if, once you’re in college and taking those courses and OFFICIALLY part of that uni, do your high school grades matter? No, before anyone asks, my grades aren’t bad. I am actually extremely proud of myself because I have done things young me would have never imagined I could have done. I’m just asking this because of my own personal reasons.

Once you are in college, your HS grades will make no difference unless you end up transferring to another University which might consider your HS grades in their transfer admission review.

However, doing well in HS will give you the background and study skills to succeed in college. HS GPA is a strong indicator on how you will do in college.

“However, doing well in HS will give you the background and study skills to succeed in college. HS GPA is a strong indicator on how you will do in college”. Yes I know this. Thankfully I feel prepared for the rigor just not the whole paying aspect. I’m just nervous because I feel like I won’t have money. Although I haven’t seen any financial aid packets from schools yet so maybe it’s too soon to assume anything.
