I'm an entering freshman starting as an architecture major (5 year program). Is there any more schooling recommended after graduating with a bachelors in architecture?? I do have a strong desire to go to some form of a graduate school. Is there anywhere to go after completing five years of undergraduate architecture, or is that it unless you go into another field?? What path is usually taken (or ideally taken) by arch majors?

My Aunts Nephew(her husband's sisters son.. so no relation to me) who went to a 5 B.Arch, then worked in a practice for 2 or 3 years, and is now going to get his masters... He told me that most architects do want a masters, and suggested to me taking the route that he did, he feels like he is much more prepared now for grad school after this time working for architects.

So what i'm saying is, yes you can go on to get a masters and it is often recommended, but you may want to choose to get some experience in the field first.

Generally, once you've completed your B.Arch, the masters program is a 1.5 or 2 year program, often referred to as M. Arch II I believe, it is a shorter program, (i've used this word like 5 times now) because of the extra training you've received, (infact you've already received your first prof. degree) than the masters programs offered to graduates of the 4 year BA. Arch or BS. Arch, and even shorter than some programs for people with degrees outside of architecture all together.
