This information is probably on this site somewhere, but can someone tell me why some forums on cc do not 'count' in a poster's total posts?! What is the rationale? A post is a post -- is it not? Why do some count and others don't?

Some forums, such as this one, are usually off-topic (non-college related) posts.

Basically because a post count is an indicator of a poster’s knowledge of college related topics, since this is a college-related forum.

Which is rather dumb, quite frankly. How does post count indicate knowledge of college-related topics? Let’s say Johnny has 443,383,201 posts. He’s pretty much a college-knowledge-supergenius, right? What if 90% of those posts were college-related questions he asked? Now how much of a genius is he? ;)

I don’t get it.

In general, if someone has those many posts, its because he’s been mostly answering questions.
