Post here if you were Waitlisted

Waitlisted >_> better than a rejection by far, i know. It’s just…frustrating, another round of waiting. DO i have a chance of getting in? Here people can talk/whine about being on the waitlist and we can figure out what this means

what were your stats?

Waitlisted ;] YAY.

w/l. there’s still hope!

Waitlisted :/

they’re floating around the site. sorry, i’m sort of depressed, i don’t feel like posting them again.

only 350 out of the 5000 waitlisted got in last year… there’s a SLIVER of hope

ME TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

i hope the 200 word thing makes a big impact to it…

Does it matter how fast we accept the waitlist offer?

http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/waitlist/waitlistFAQ.pdf

Here’s the waitlist FAQ page, if it helps at all.

I read the whole thing already

i should sleep now but i dont wanna
i hope davis accepts me :(

:'( i mean, i know this is better than being rejected but WHY could i not have just been accepted?? ughhh ANOTHER month of worrying yaaaaaaay

Bookworm: don’t let this get you down too much. You’ve shown so much determination and care for your education just in the last few days on this forum. If you have that same determination and will to succeed everywhere in life, it will take you far at any school - now just go prove that Davis made the wrong decision so you can rub it in their face when you have some high paying dream job in the future. Hopefully you’ll get on the waitlist and won’t even have to do that!

ymmv - I was waitlisted for engineering last year. Yes, they waitlisted 5000 people, but not all of those accepted the waitlist and wrote the 200 word essay/paragraph. Since it was the 1st year of waitlisting, I think they over used it to make certain they didn’t over enroll. My opinion is that the essay doesn’t matter that much - its just a way to make sure the people who accept the waitlist really want to go there (otherwise all 5000 people will accept just to see if they would have gotten in). I was emailed for acceptance on May 2 - one day after all regular acceptances had to commit. Most of the people in my dorm area were also waitlisted in engineering.
Negatives of being accepted from the waitlist (besides the obvious of not-knowing and more stressful wait time!) - you have to commit to another school, probably pay and lose your deposit at the other school, notify the other school in writing that you are dropping it,
feeling bad about doing that because they really wanted you in the first place!, and lastly - you will probably get your last choice for housing (basically Cuarto) because you are the last ones to get your housing app in. But was it worth the wait for me -yes, I like it here. I’m sure I would have been happy at one of my other admits, too.

I was pretty much going to say what jbourne did. I don’t think all 5,000 students accepted the WL. If you look up the numbers, I think it was more around 600 accepted

If it counts for much, once I read my acceptance my first thought was to check CC to see if you got in.
I hope you are one of the 300-400-something that gets in this year off waitlist!!

^^Me too, bookworm. I checked mine and the immediately went to cc to see about you. So sorry you don’t have a definitive answer but it does sound like those who accept the wait list have a good chance of getting in and I wish you the best of luck with that. Hang in there!

Was thinking of you yesterday. Got a call from the medical scholars program at UCSD and another email from Jacob’s school of engineering telling me how much they want me…I guess they dont know that UCSD wait listed me…

I received the Chancellor’s Invitation for UCSB as an engineering student, have exceptional stats all around, and yet I was waitlisted to Davis. I’m at a loss.

Waitlisted. 3.64 gpa and 2080 on SAT

I’ll accept the waitlist offer but I’ll probably be going to UCSB
