The only thing different I said on the first question was on the third part. I mentioned that refrigeration could allow products like fresh produce and flowers to be shipped from further away. I drew a blank for a second example and talked about how products that had to be harvested manually (like strawberries) could occupy larger territories than Von Thunen had predicted because of the influx of cheap labor in recent years.

For the second question I mentioned government support (funding for schools to teach Gaelic in Scotland, bilingual road signs in Ireland), necessity (Jews coming together and using Hebrew as a new lingua franca for Israel), and fear for presevervation (as in Cornish and Manx where the languages pretty much died out until the people wanted to revive a key part of their culture). I had time left so I also talked about international figures like Enya and Michael Flatley who popularize a culture and stimulate people to learn the language around the globe.

Last question I'm pretty sure I missed. I talked about jobs being focused in the tertiary sector, which meant that core countries would be at an advantage and exploit the primary and secondary-centric peripheral countries. So...I sort of beat around the bush.

I'm just scared I won't get a 5 on the "easy" test. : (

u216881 - Haha, you were right about essay three. Sorry, I thought you were referring to the answer of the question instead of the question itself. lol My bad :D

for essay 3 i put the different sector like primary, secondary, and tertiary?
others ppl put stuff about the the three tier structure so im not sure

For essay one I put that Y could live farther away from the market or the urban area in attempt to escape high rent prices. The intensive agricultural practices of X would need to be closer to the market so as to cut transportation costs. This in turn would cause the X to pay higher rent prices. This is all in accordance to Von Thunen's Model.

essay 2 was a bit more shady for me. pressure from historians, culturists, etc. to create cultural diversity.

essay 3 I just talked about the outsourcing of industrial jobs from u.s. to periphery or semiperiphery countries in order to be more efficient in production. This in turn led to rust belt...deindustrialization in u.s. but it gave more jobs and economic benefits to less developed countries. Mexico and the maquiladoras...etc.

all in all it wasn't to bad considering i self studies for about a week and a half.

for third part of essay #1, i mentioned the development of agribusiness and the golbalization of agriculture; farmers don't necessarily produce goods just for the city that they live in; also, the death of the family farm.

for essay 3, growing gap between rich and poor in developing countries, human rights issues, laadeedaa
