Post- Jan 28 SAT (no pun intended)

Let's not discuss specific questions, but how did you find the Jan 28 SAT?

I went in to take the test without any experience of how long or grueling the 5 hours would be, but it turned out to be much easier than I expected. By easier, I refer to both the length and the test material this time around. The essay question was pretty straight-forward also.

Can't wait for scores!

The essay killed me. I didn't have enough time to finish making my point, which sucked, obviously. I also developed a headache halfway through the paper - all that sitting down? Totally did not help. Generally the questions were easier than I expected, but because I'm inherently bad at Math, I think I severely bombed all the Math sections.

A question: The invigilator said (or rather, read from the invigilator's manual) that we aren't allowed to discuss the essay question until "your scored essay is available online". What does that mean? Does it mean that I'd see my essay online, or something else?

You will see your essay online several days after the test scores are released. (It is a scanned copy of your work.)

there is usually an embargo on test days....you can start discussing when CC lifts the embarge. Usually around 2 pm EST time. so in general how was the critical reading....hard medium or easy. Do not paste questions until after embarge is lifted.

CR was hard-ish (one of it was experimental and i hope it was the hard one)

M was easy

W was medium/easy (essay was quite open ended so lots to say)

Well I followed my brilliant trend of making stupid mistakes in math (got a 640 last time) and I think I made 2 mistakes this time. Other than that, I found CR very easy, writing was very good, I loved the essay prompt, lots of possibilities in it.

Oh and I heard from someone that the curve is steeper for Jan SATs is that true? ( I was really hoping to do well on my Math section; CR and Writing, were brilliant (800) last time). Is it true that colleges take you best from each section.)

Are you sure the CR had an experimental section?, I thought it was Math?

Well the form i took had 4 CR sections, two right next to each other. The rest had a normal count.

Yeah, colleges take the best from each section, or so they say.

Hi, i'm a new member and i just took the SAT today for the first time.

CR definitely had an experimental becasue there were three 25min CR sections.

I found CR quite hard and i screwed up one part which i think and pray was the experimental section.I hope the CR curve is generous.

I think my math and writing was alright and hopefully i can get high for them.

Let's hope for the best.

Well I had 3 math 25 min sections; so there's something wierd going on. Or do they have more than one type of experimental?

I had four Math sections, two of which were next to each other. I didn't know of this 'experimental' thing. Does it mean that one of the Math sections won't be counted? I certainly hope so. My Math is going to be my worst section. I'm hoping I won't fall below a 650, but knowing how bad I am at the subject...sigh.

CR and Writing were surprisingly easy, except for the essay. When I finished the last Writing section five minutes before time and checked my answers though, I realised that I made two very stupid errors. (Cockiness and over-confidence do that to a person.) Hopefully the ones I spotted were the only ones that I needed to spot.

yes, experimental means one section is going not going to be counted towards your score. You won't know which one though.

that's interesting, I guess different forms have different experimental sections

that is interesting; and you know the funny part? On all practise tests which I take, i end up with at least a 750+ in math; can only hope this test reveals that and my mistakes are in the experimental :)

I took the SAT for the first time today and I found it a lot easier than the blue book tests(not that those were hard...but the CR in the blue book was more backwards if you know what I mean:))
Anyway...I think I got the math experimental...2 sections, one after another, that never happened before. I don't think I got any math wrong it was 8th grade level, although I don't think I got 1 grid-in right the slope one...what did you write?
I'm hoping for a 2200+....during the practice tests I took, I never finished anything before the time was up but today...at all sections except the essay and the 10th section I finished 5 or 10 minutes (math) before time was called.
What's happening to the collegeboard people...I mean I studied the damn word list and I didn't need any of them....the only word I didn't know was the pequanilly one, or whatever it's spelled, I wasn't able to find it anywhere:D

Anyway, I am sure all of ya' did great and we'll talk again on the 13th of Feb:)

another thing...I am almost certain that math-section 3 was the experimental one because the math level was even lower than the average of the test...

im actually suprised... found the math difficult....
cr was okay.. writing was easy.. essay was gr8 considerinh what CBguys r capable of givin...
in math that question bout the length of the two semicirccles seemed tough though i knw it isnt coz it was inthe beginnign of the seciton.. broke my head on it n yet failed..

y were there so many sections...

i thought the CR was much harder than i expected
Math - somewhat expected... some questions were tricky but i think i did pretty good
Writing- the grammar was average... the essay wasnt too bad its juz that i had to go to the bathroom really badly and couldnt concentrate

overall- not so good (hope i get a decent score that i would be somewhat satisfied)

ya there were a lot of CRs!!!

the essay i started so well with first example, but with time pressing a rushed through a second and it wasnt a very good argument. overall who knows

hmmm

1st Time Taking after lots of practice

Essay - Pretty Easy I thought; it worked well with my practice ones. 10-12?
Math - There were one or two that I just couldn't figure out, but besides that, nothing too crazy (except for that damn, how many sides does this shape have?). I'm prone to making stupid mistakes so hopefully I didn't make too many. 680-720?
Reading - Had alot of critical reading, I think 3-4 in a row (That was killer). Nothing too difficult though, just the clumping of the sections made it kind of tedious. 680-720?
Writing - Grammar wasn't too bad, a few idiomatic statements I think I %&^*'d up on. My vocab skills also came up kind of short on the exam today. "Picayuny", "Indelible" and some others that I can't remember caused quite a bit of vexation. Oh well. 670-710?

I was hoping for a 2100, and I have no idea how the curve will work for or against me. Good luck to everyone else also!

Well, the Jan 28 SAT thread hasn't even gone to two pages yet, by this time in Oct, Nov, Dec the threads were like 10 pages long!

Am I the only one who found it hard?

Math...I think I might score low 700s..possibly high 600s.. WOW...that sucks.
and Writing, I was confused on more questions than usual..

CR...I'm just hoping for the best.

I think I dropped 150 points..or more AHHHHH :(
