Post Marked or Received by date????????

<p>I know this is a really stupid question, but I really just don't know. When a college has on it's application that the deadline is a certain date... is it "received by" or "post marked" by that date? HELP</p>

<p>Check the school's website and its application instructions! You'd be surprized that some schools do mean "recieved".</p>
