Post office closed on the 1st !!!!

The post office is closed on 1st that means even if i send it in it will not be postmark on the 1st and instead the 3rd of Jan.

Is this ok ?

Correct.

It shouldn't be a problem.

really? oh poo, I wish I'd known that. oh well, at least it's out of my hair.

i thought it had to be postmarked on the 1st...even if it is closed that day.

really? I was getting stressed about the post office cosing

Well technically it will be late and you should have had it in the mail and postmarked for the 31st. However, while its not smart and not recommended, colleges accept mail that is postmarked after the deadline. If it's postmarked a day or two after the deadline, the VAST MAJORITY of colleges won't care.

so some will? I never like handing in anything late so I guess online app it is. Through I'm a little upset at the post office for misinforming me that they're open Saturday (I even called the drug marts.. guess no one remembers New Years anymore :P ) because I spent a lot of time and money getting cheques and printing. Oh well.

btw which ones care?

at least I can use the printing and cheque I got for Yale. (I had to get some US cheques because I'm in Canada and I doubt they'll take Canadian fund ones) =)

hey so if you do the online app. you have all of the 1st to sned it in, right? you dont have to send it in BEFORE the 1st, i mean.

I've never ever heard of a college that won't take an application that's postmarked a few days after the deadline. Even mail that is postmarked by the deadline will trickle in for days and days after the deadline, just due to the way the postal service works and if colleges threw all of those away they'd be losing tons of application fees. Just get it in the mail ASAP and don't worry about it.

ok... thanks for the replies...

what a relief..haha

hrmm.. oops. i paid for my fees a few weeks ago could that change anything now that they already have money?

umm, apply online...?

Lol, no.

Just send in the forms. You'll be absolutely fine. If not, I promise I'll provide you with a lifetime supply of icecream - the flavor of your choice.

Stipulations:
1. You must send in the forms on Monday, get them postmarked, and they must have the correct postage
2. Lost forms are not my responsibility
3. Filing errors are not my responsibility
4. Teachers or counselors not mailing forms in aren't my responsibility

hey some post offices ARE actually open...i'm lucky...im in NY...the central office in Manhattan is open 24/7 :)

My dad successfully scared me into saying they'd put me into a separate pile and evaluate the on-time ones first, and if they didn't have places afterwards (likely, you tardy girl) you'll be tossed out.

So, being on 4 hours of sleep, I believed him and rushed in my apps.

Haha. At least they're in and you don't have to worry about them anymore.

That's all that matters.

Even if a post office is open 24/7, they may not postmark mail all of the time. We have a post office that's open 24 hours, but the last postmark time is 8 p.m. I don't know if they postmark at all on holidays, but I know on normal days the last time is 8.

hey so if you do the online app. you have all of the 1st to sned it in, right? you dont have to send it in BEFORE the 1st, i mean.

If you have them print you off specific stamps for your packages, then it says the time printed, right?
