Post office in or near UCLA?

So, suppose I sell stuff on eBay, and I need to ship the package to the buyer, is there a USPS post office on campus or near campus where I can ship stuff from? Or is the Fedex at Ackerman my only option?

On that note, is it true that the Ackerman Fedex is closing? If so, when?

theres USPS express in ackerman. its not a full post office (like no PO boxes etc) but they do all the shipping stuff, domestic and international. (FYI, you should prepay your shipments since theres often a long line. if you're prepaid you can just walk up and hand it to them.)

FedEx Kinkos in ackerman does not ship. i think only dropoff only of prepaid fedex shipments. and i think it already closed? i vaguely remember it being closed this summer during session a.

there's a fedex drop-off point right next to burger king in westwood (about 10 min from south campus)- not sure but i think you may be able to pay there to ship it since I think it looks like some mailing store (i pass by it all the time, and people from my lab go there to ship stuff out, but I never actually went inside myself)

VTEC, wheres the USPS express in Ackerman? I've never seen it.

The USPS express is right across from Jamba Juice. It's easy to pass by it without noticing it, unless there's a line of people outside it. It's a really small post office.

I thought the Fedex was across from Jamba Juice....I guess I mistook the USPS for a Fedex lol.

theyre next to eachother. the USPS express is just like a tiny room with one door.

Oh okay, I should've taken a closer look in that area. Thanks guys.

Passerby: When my roommates and I shipped out Wii's last year we used the post office @ the Federal Building on Wilshire. It's not too far a ride if you know someone with a car. The post office in ackerman is good if you already have boxes you can ship things in.

It's also pretty close if you just take the Campus Express shuttle to the Wilshire Center.

It has moved to Westwood.

Right, but the Campus Express only stays on the campus. The Wilshire Express at Lot 2 will take you down there.

the fedex is closing (closed) on campus, must go to westwood

Oh, whatever its called nowadays. :)

the ackerman PO has Priority Mail boxes for free (theyre all under the counters in boxes), but they require you to ship with Priority Mail.

Know if those are flat rate boxes?

I'm just gonna be shipping books, so if I wrap my book in paper packaging, shouldn't that be enough? Would the USPS express in Ackerman be sufficient for shipping books?

Well, it seems like there isn't one anymore. I've heard the best way to do it is through Media Mail (which should be cheaper, and the right way to do it for books). Check it out at the regular P.O. on Wilshire.

they have both flat rate and regular priority boxes.

wrapping a book in a paper bag should be fine. just tape all the edges so it cant catch on anything and rip open during shipment. and yes, media mail is the way to go for books, especially textbooks. the PO in ackerman can do the whole spectrum of USPS shipping services, so i dont see a reason to have to goto the veteran building PO at all, unless you need a PO box or something...
