Post On This Thread When You Receive Decision

My son got waitlisted at Emory, which was his first choice. Is there anything he can do now to still get in? What are his chances?

His SAT1 is 1480 (720 V, 760 M)
SATII - 750 Math II, 740 Biology, 720 Writing
GPA - 3.8 UW, 4.3 W

Your son needs to show interest in Emory. He should write to the admissions office, and tell them how much he wants to go to Emory. I spoke with an Admissions Officer at Emory the other day, and he said that Emory LOVES it when applicants show interest in them. So, I suggest writing an adulatory letter or e-mail to Emory.

Furthermore, your son's stats are really good, so I think that he should get in.

Thanks a lot for your advise! He is putting a letter together right now. The school GC called Emory and got the name of the representative responsible for our area. It just sounds like there so many kids this year who got waitlisted... Whould it make sense for me to call or write a letter, or would it look bad?

Yeah, a lot of highly qualified applicants got waitlisted from Emory this school year. I would write a letter expressing interest. I don't think that doing this would look bad. After all, Emory does like it when applicants show interest in them.
