Post Rejections Here

It is February 23, 2007 and the time is 2:23 PM Pacific. I just opened a small flimsy letter from Pomona College and it read "I regret to report that we are unable to offer you admission to the first year class." (It is not a myth that rejection letters are small and thin, as my letter attests.) Seeing how I compare to most of the people posting on this website I was expecting the worst. I am dissapointed, but not enraged- I will probably end up going to a UC, I just really wanted to go to a small school- I should have applied to less reputable private schools-I did my best, so I can't complain.

My name is Adam- I applied ED 2 to Pomona and was rejected.

Oh, I'm sorry Adam, but I'm happy for you that you are able to take this in stride. Plus, it's not like you are going to community college! The UC's are a great and affordable option!

Ummmm . . . . in my time zone, it's only February 13, 2007. Am I missing the joke?? Or was that a typo?

Adam, You have a great attitude. I just want you to know that 30 years ago I applied to 5 colleges and was rejected by 2 or 3 (don't remember). I do remember two of the schools I applied to and know that one of these accepted me and one rejected me, but I can't remember which was which since I decided to go to a different school...Time takes care of all of this and your life will take you places you can't even imagine. Truly, with an attitude like yours, you will be open to many wonderful adventures. Best of luck and don't look back!!

thin envelopes- takes away all the suspense, you know the decision before opening the letter.

that's why i'm glad some of my schools are doing email notification before sending out letters

^^ I concur. I was thinking about that last week actually. It just isn't the same because now when you open your mailbox, you know. The whole fun of getting letters back from the colleges must have been opening it. Now all that fun is gone ='(

i actually hate the e-mail system... it's so impersonal and it diminishes whatever the result is... making it seem like less of a deal when it's really one of the biggest things in your life.

The suspense could be aweful, I would rather know online. I think it is better to know than it is to be wondering "when will it get here," "what will it say," "it's here, is it good?" I like that with online, you click a link and hope for the best. And if all of them are on the same day, you can get it all over at once.

I'm probably a bit biased since my online one was an early reject, and my first acceptance came in the mail... though the suspenseful wait was awful, it was well worth it to open the mailbox all of a sudden and see that big package.

I was also rejected early, but the letter I got was exactly the same thing I saw online. I like the idea that you will know right at a specific time.

I was also rejected ED. The envelope was, of course, small, and I knew that it was a rejection.

However, I just figured that I will be happy wherever I go, and that getting hung up on that one rejection wouldn't do me any good.

^^^ I felt much the same, and was just dissapointed that I would have to tell a bunch of people that I got rejected.

I hate seeing the words "regret".

Its their loss Smooth Jerome and I hate it when they mention: "we wish you luck on all your future endeavors!"

I got rejected by my early decision school too, I was over it in about a day.

I really hope you aren't shedding disdain on the UC schools. (Not that I'd do anything about it if you were.)

"My name is Adam- I applied ED 2 to Pomona and was rejected."

It sounds like we're at some rehab meeting or something. haha

I haven't been rejected ED because I haven't applied yet. However, I think email can have just as much suspense, as you wait for the little bars to load. Not that heart-tearing suspense is desirable ...

Haha. The suspense. I would probably faint before the page loaded... which only takes around 2 seconds...

I think I'd prefer to open up the mail just because I don't think I want a heartattack. Seeing the small or large envelope is usually a good indication of my rejection/acceptance... so it's not SO terrifying.

i was rejected to sdsu
