A friend of mine’s friend been accepted to Irvine with a UC GPA of 3.3 and 1800.

i wonder what was his/her major.

I think that it’s by class rank. If you go to collegeboard.com and you look at UCSD or UCD, 100% of their admitted applicants were in the top 10%.
I guess that they’re not as holistic as they claim to be.

i’m guessing i’m not getting in…
whats a good option for me?

Oh, I guess that I’m wrong. Were you ELC though?

@nuitari I have pretty much the same stats as your friend, but I also have leadership under my belt as well as a hefty amount of work experience and volunteering. Same major too, so I just gotta stay hopeful :/

@IWillGetIn

I have a little higher GPA, but the fact that I applied for probably one of the most competitive majors in UCI doesn’t help my chances. I also have a good amount of work experience and volunteering, but ugh, this waiting game is giving me a heart attack. UCI and UCSB are probably the only realistic “chance” schools I have. I’m scared as nuts, my heart has been pounding pretty fast because of this. I guess we just have to stay hopeful like you said.

do you guys think software engineering is one of the impacted majors?

@nuitari

right?! Well UCSB is tomorrow, and UCI is anytime this week. Good luck to the both of us, I hope we both get in. These aren’t just my realistic chances, but also the only schools I’d be extremely happy going.
SIGH, I hate this whole waiting game. Do you think they already know got in and are just waiting on letting people know or are they still coming up with decisions?
