congos to the accepteed again...
But richhobo...for sure, ur not a citizen (you're a premanent resident like me..aren't you?)
I mean its definite that they prefer citizens. And I don't think my Stats were the diamond in the treasure anywayz....but atleast i didn't get waitlisted.
Im feeling good after janieblue's reply. Im staying on the list. If you're waitlisted ..you have 15-20 % chance of getting in. (little more chance if you are OOS)

don't think he is going to stick with it. too tired of the waiting. wants it all settled and worried about dorms, roommates, life....parents are tired of it too.
too many other choices.

Well the fact that you were waitlisted does not blow my mind. How do you expect to get into UNC without any ECS. And your sat scores are not even that great compared to mine. I have three varsity letters, leadership positions in multiple organizations and I've worked 30 hours per week since freshman year. You don't decide who deserves to get in. You shouldn't even try to compare yourself to me.

Congrats to everyone who got in! I'm surprised I didn't get in and I'm also very disappointed. UNC is a great school. Should I bother with the waiting list though?

I never said I didn't have any ECs, I only said I had a lack of them, as in I don't have many. You admitted you were lazy, that your essays were "crappy," you even acknowledged you think you were accepted because of luck. Do you not see were your situation could be aggravating?

maybe... a lot has to do with your essay....trust me...i was surprised to get a likely letter from UNC....since my act score wasn't good...i can't believe that some of you are waitlisted...and I am from OOS with lower score...i think the essay means a lot...

^^^Read a thread on UNC's admitted students' forum about this exact question...

Basically, it's impossible to become an NC resident just so your tuition is cheaper. You have to prove you're living in NC for something other than education, and live here for 12 months, among other things.

Well that really doesn't make sense, since my essays were by FAR my strongest asset, and I had pretty decent OOS stats (received a handwritten note from an admissions officer at a top public school saying how impressed she was with my essays...)

thanks ATLmom,
i heard only 600 OOS got accepted....so i'm glad!
You can marry to become a citizen, so I can imagine you can marry to become a resident.
2gentarheel2012, are you sure its for 12 months? if i live in nc and rent an apartment, would that be considered?
