Post your college laptop/desktop specs

<p>I have two configurations that I will be using:</p>

<p>For class notes/college general work:</p>

<p>Dell Latitude e6400 Laptop
Vista Business
14.1 LED screen
128 GB Solid State Drive (SSD)
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 6 MB L2 cache
4GB RAM @ 800 MHz (2x2)
Intel 4500MHD <-- only downside, but then again I only need it for speed, graphics is in my desktop, and this can still handle everything except new games.
12 hours battery life
20 second boot time >=D</p>

<p>And a desktop that I built for gaming/graphics intensive programs:</p>

<p>Custom/self-made
Windows XP/Ubuntu Dual boot
3.00 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Nvidia 9600GT 512 MB DDR3
4 GB DDR3 RAM
500 GB Maxtor HD @ 7200 RPM</p>

<p>how common is it to take both a laptop and a desktop?</p>

<p>Don’t think it’s all that common.</p>

<p>And 12 hours battery life? Doing what? Sitting idle? I’ve never seen a laptop/battery graded more than like 6-7 hours, and even that is under minimal use.</p>

<p>Nope, under normal use. Keep in mind, it has a SSD instead of a HD and a LED screen so it consumes much much less power than normal laptops. It also has a 9 cell battery.</p>

<p>I recently got my laptop. Downsides are the built-in speakers and trackpad…</p>

<p>Dell Latitude e6500 Laptop
Vista Home Basic 32 bit (apparently this laptop doesn’t support 64 bit. I was bummed)
15.4 LCD screen with a backlit keyboard
250 HDD with free fall sensor
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9550, 6 MB L2 cache
4GB DDR2 RAM @ 800 MHz (2x2)
256 mb dedicated nvidia quadro 160m graphics card
9 cell battery
bluetooth and integrated webcam (my mom wants to skype while im away)
wireless card supports 802.11 a/b/g/n
and uh lol i didnt time my boot time</p>

<p>Great choice, I love most of the Latitude business laptops</p>

<p>Roxlo, you must have spent a fortune on those two (especially the laptop)…</p>

<p>I have a desktop that I built for ~$1000 including the monitor, etc:
NZXT Lexa case ([NZXT</a>. Products.](<a href=“http://www.nzxt.com/products/lexa/]NZXT”>http://www.nzxt.com/products/lexa/))
Intel C2D E6550 (2.33 GHz)
4 GB RAM
Windows XP Pro
EVGA Geforce 8600 GTS
Seagate Barracuda 250gb HDD
Hanns-G 21" Widescreen monitor w/ a a 15" secondary monitor (both flat panel)
KWorld TV tuner - can watch cable, play Wii, listen to the radio, etc</p>

<p>and a laptop I bought for ~$600:
Dell Inspiron 1525
Intel C2D T5750 (2 GHz)
3 GB RAM
Windows Vista dual booted w/ Ubuntu
15.4" widescreen
250 GB HDD</p>

<p>Pretty good combination for spending just a little over $1500</p>

<p>to answer the other person’s question, I’ve only seen I think 2 other people at my school that had a laptop and desktop.</p>

<p>Nice. Actually probably surprisingly I got my laptop for a bargain.</p>

<p>I found it at the Dell outlet when they were having a 20% off sale on Latitudes from their outlet for $750 - including a 3 year warranty.</p>

<p>The PC cost $700 and I found a 22 inch widescreen HP monitor for for around $200.</p>

<p>Thinkpad t61, almost exactly 1000$
14.1" 1400x900 60 Hz screen
2.4 Ghz processor (intel t8300)
3Gb Ram
120 Gb, 7200 rpm Hard Drive (store lots externally)
Nvidia Quadro NVS 140m</p>
