<p>Apparently, Stanford and Harvard have very different admissions policies in some cases. I'm valedictorian and focused heavily on two ECs and got into Stanford and rejected from Harvard; the salutorian was more well-rounded, although didn't participate heavily in most of his ECs, and got into Harvard and deferred from Stanford EA, rejected RD. </p>
