Post your Fall Quarter Schedule:

i hate chem and physics with a passion....
a;owiejf;oawe;awe

first of all....holy crap!!!!

second...you have a lot of issues with prereqs....
- you need to finish chem 14A before you can take LS2.

you must finish 14D before you can take 153a

you need phy sci 107 before 111a. and phy sci upper divs are only offered specific quarters and they must be taken consecutively:
fall - 107, 111c, 111l
winter - 111a, 111l
spring - 111b, 111l

you HAVE to go 107 -> 111a -> 111b -> 111c. 111l is offered every quarter so you have some flexibility there.

you're missing LS1, LS3, LS4. you need to complete the whole LS series before you can take 111a.

Yeah, those schedules look really nasty. By the way, it's a bit hard to get into lab classes... I think people are usually advised to take 14C before 14CL? (Correct me if I'm wrong?) Also, one thing I noticed from your schedules is that you didn't throw in any "Easy GEs."

Is there any particular reason you're picking up the English minor? I remember that you wanted to be a pre-med English major. You know, you could just take the required math and science classes for medical student and still be an English major.

Hmm... I couldn't find that instructor's name on BruinWalk. Anyway - your schedule looks fine for your first quarter. As for adding Chinese 1 into your schedule - go ahead and add it and if you feel like its too much drop one of your courses (a good one to drop would be the MCD40 class since it's just a GE).

oh yeah thanks for letting me know about my ls classes...i didn't type them in. i messed the whole thing up. this is my third draft. so obsessed haha

so i can't take ls2 and chem 14A concurrently?

what are GE classes w/ easy As, esp for social analysis and linguistic GE?

for clusters: do all 3 quarters get honors credit or only the final seminar? how many honors credits?

idk if i should take honors in my position

what types of "slacker" courses can i possibly take to spread out my prereqs?

and i don't really like english as much b/c it involves old literature :( sick! i basically like to read contemporary things of my interest and WRITE. therefore i am shooting for an english minor. since i love human bio and how the body works i'm choosing a phy sci major. and isn't phy sci major classes VERY similar to premed track?

Do some research and make up your schedule with your major requirements first. Look at BruinWalk etc. It doesn't make much sense to put a certain GE at the center of your entire schedule.

------------------

------------------

GEs, Writing Requirements, Foreign language...

Phy sci major's lower division courses (and all bio majors for that matter) are medical school requirements mostly. Have you looked at the English minor's requirements? The entire lower division runs the gamut from Chaucer to ... well, still old literature-work. Then, you just have a few upper-division that will probably focus on Shakespeare or someone specific! What's the point? You can always take random English classes that don't have pre-requisites.

yaayy, i've done better in physics/chem than math... soo... w00t? (and my chem lab is 6.30-930 in 1337, so LEET!, reg. for lab 1G moldau! gogogo

no, you have to finish chem 14A before LS2. 14A is an enforced requisite.

not sure about easy GE's. check the easy GE thread.

i think only the last quarter gets honors credit. forgot how much

you can try if you want to....but it'll be a lot of work.

with a science major plus a minor, you dont really have time to fill your schedule with "slacker" courses unless its a GE.

english major/minor invloves a lot of old literature and literary analysis. you can try a couple classes and see what you think, but it sounds like you might not like english that much. english composition, maybe, but thats not a major or minor.

you will probably change your goals as time goes on, as you havent even started your first year yet. just take some classes, see what you like, and go from there. and yes, phy sci requirements pretty much parallel pre-med/dent/opt/pharm requirements.

5 upper division Chem classes o_O

oh no that means i hafta start my bio (LS2) after 2nd quarter...i haven't had biology since my jr yr of high school...my brain'll b rustier??

what do u think of my 1st quarter schedule? if i add chem14A, would i die?
LA cluster, math 3a, eng comp 3

It's fine. You'll be alright. (LS2)

Add Chem 14A to your schedule and if it's too much for you, you can drop a course without penalty up to a certain week of the quarter.

MyUCLA Class Planner is down right now; is that a frequent occurrence?

Nope. URSA is down during the middle of the night for repair though.

well here's my schedule, rising junior....

*Chem 153A
*LS 2
*Either Chem 110A or ChE 102A

This is the first time I am taking four classes:

Engl 121
Engl 182C
Scan 50
WAC 100A

jeremy m,

are you on the waitlist for 102a? if you are, it's lu. i was hoping for orkoulas (we cooked raw meat together!)
and for 110, felker or schwartz?

deuces,

i might be in your section, i'm too lazy to look it up though,
are you chE also?

dawritingmachine,

for you, i'd say corbin. or gekkelman. (gekkelman is also a personal friend of my friend's)

Schwartz doesn't know how to teach...

Dear dawritingmachine,

Did you clear up your worries about being pre-med and English?

sorta/not really. i'm going to speak w/ the virtual counseling this week. i don't think i'm going to be hard core english b/c i am more of a writer of all sorts...creative, scientific, journalist..etc..and i don't like old englist lit! (so english minor) well that's the only drawback besides the potential stress.

i want to become a medical correspondent someday. kinda like a dr. sanjay gupta. i love reporting and being on tv. i also love to write informative news w/ sarcasm..

any advice?

i'm thinking about daily bruin and involvement in the hospital.
