@CaLibertarian are you a transfer or incoming freshman?

I hope there are still spaces left for math… im in engineering and i would like to continue in my math or i might forget my calc… which is bad bad thing…

Wow what an ignorant comment about Russian Pop culture. Neither Borat or hockey have anything to do with that. Borat was from Kazakhstan actually which is NOT Russia.

^^^ But Kazakhstan was a former member of the Soviet Republic.

Here’s mine:

Math 31A (4)
CS 1 (1)
CS 31 (4)
ENG COMP 3 (5)

2 FIAT LUX SEMINARS (2)

@WorriedJrGirl: I’m a transfer
@like2read: It was meant as tongue in cheek (I am a huge hockey/Borat fan anyway haha). Not sure if you didn’t get the memo, but the internet is no longer serious business ;).
@binks09: Thanks for having my back ;)

@compscifan Im planning to switch to computer science & engineering and want the exact schedule you got! except for the math 31a, im suppose to be math 31B

Calculus of Several Variables (Math 32A)
Microeconomic Theory
Comparative Literature (Adventures in Avant Garde)

Decided to switch to Math/Econ last minute.

Comp lit should be interesting

Physics 6B
Italian 1
Chem 14C
LS 2

Unless I decide I want to change my major yet again.

Intro Sociology
Jerusalem: Holy City
History of American Motion Picture
Fiat Lux: The Arab Uprisings

Am I the only north campus major on cc? lol

Poli Sci 40-American Politics
Jewish m10-Jewish Institutions
History 13a-American Colonial History

I’m interested in the fiat lux classes, but I don’t know how to enroll… I enrolled in this classes during my virtual counseling session- and I didn’t have the chance to ask the counselor about the seminars. My session’s 112- so can I still enroll in one by then?

^ You could’ve enrolled in the seminars the same you did for your classes. Now that your virtual counseling is over, you can still do it the day 112 counseling actually takes place (12-14). Assuming that they aren’t filled by then, that is.

How come so many people are taking more than two science classes? Don’t they advice you not to do that as a transfer?

Ehhh
I’m taking
ls 4
EE bio 109-marine bio
Civic engagement 100
Psych 115-behavioral neuroscience

I needed a physics 6B class but the only lecture that was open conflicted with the only lab that was open. Fail.

Engl 80
math 3b
soc gen 5

I’m a freshman, and I’m utterly confused. How many courses/units am I supposed to take the first year. Major Computer Engg, if that helps.

^Your counselor will explain everything during your orientation. You should def check out some of the ucla engineering websites for more info, but most engineering majors I know take similar classes, so scheduling should be pretty straightforward.

Chem 14C
Jewish 10
Physiology XL 3 (extension)

woooooo

This is a completely doable schedule with some efficient time management. The only concern I would have for all these math classes is hand arthritis. My hands feel like breaking after doing problem after problem for hours on end.

You planning to get all A’s this quarter? That’s a lot of units, wow. I hope you’re not putting research on top of that.

My Fall Schedule:

[4] EE 10 - Circuit Analysis I
[4] EE 110 - Circuit Analysis II
[4] EE 101 - Engineering Electromagnetics
[4] CS 31 - Intro to Comp Sci

north campus major here. i’m a philosophy major.

Phil. 100A: history of ancient philosophy (i.e. mainly Plato and Aristotle)
Phil. 127C (a): Philosophy of Language (i.e. will be taught on Kripke and his book Naming and Necessity; although there’s only one 127C class, a corresponding 127C class will be taught in winter to deal with the former/latter half of the book, whichever we don’t cover in fall)
Phil. 115: Kant (class will be dealing with Kant’s metaphysics [probably Critique of Pure Reason] iirc.)
Phil. 154: rationality and action (i.e. ethics class dealing with choice, free will, and other topics)

overall i’m very excited and can’t wait for fall.

just wondering, how would this text compare, if they could even be compared (i’m not too math savvy) to Apostol’s text? I believe i read (most likely on CC) that they use Apostol at Caltech. But i’m not sure if this has to do with the fact that it’s a superior text, or because apostol taught there haha.

It’s because Apostol is a professor there. It’s supposed to be a good book though. His introductory Analysis book is very similar to Baby Rudin.
