Some people have listed only reach schools. Does that mean you’re holding an EA admit or did you not bother to list your safeties?

If you have no acceptances, and have applied only to reaches, no matter how wonderful your stats are, read this thread and heed the lessons from the experience of Andison, who was an outstanding student who applied only to reaches and received only rejections:

Thankfully, for California students, we have the Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) which guarantees admission into at least one UC if you place in the top 4% of your graduating class. So the UCs turned into safeties for me.

Financial safeties, for those who don’t know, are schools you know you’ll be accepted to and can afford. Make sure you are rock bottom sure that your parents can afford those schools. Many students have been disappointed after parents told them not to worry about college costs and then – after acceptances, the parents realized that colleges cost far more than they ever had imagined. Costs have gone up a great deal since your parents went to college.

In comparison to you guys, my list sounds rather short. I applied to all “match” schools.

Clarkson University
Lafayette College
Northeastern University
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
SUNY Binghamton
Union College
Villanova University

I’ll partake
Tulane(deferred EA)
Florida State university
University of South Florida
Georgia State University
University of Georgia
Mercer University
Rhodes College

Notre Dame
University of Florida
Miami University - Oxford
Florida State - Accepted Honors
University of South Florida - accepted honors
Central Florida - accepted honors
St Mary’s College - Notre Dame - accepted.

Applied to Florida schools due to$$$$ reasons. Have not yet heard about reach schools.

Accepted Honors to all safety schools. Waiting on the reaches

Thanks for pointing out that very interesting thread on “no safeties”. It was fascinating and I agree that it is a must read for every applicant.

And it does make that list that Northstarmom posted a little worrying. A quick glance through post history suggests it doesn’t include any EA acceptances…

UPenn (top choice)
Grinnell College
UMichigan
Bucknell (accepted)
URichmond
Tulane
Case Western
UMaryland College Park
Washington & Jefferson (safe, accepted)

Really like Bucknell, but im kinda worried about fin aid. I probably go there if Penn rejected me and/or the school offers me good aid.
