Ack, so I'm guessing Dartmouth would read it. I still can't believe I got a 12 -- this system makes no sense haha.

May I just ask where you got your information? I'm not being skeptical, just curious :).

I guess it just doesn't hurt to read closely into colleges' policies. Mainly I got my information from colleges' websites. I did get some verbal confirmation in some of the interviews, and I was also enlightened via e-mail when I inquired about their new SAT policies. I hope that's legit enough for you ;) ...or at least enough to satiate your curiousity!

Math: 760 (3 wrong; ***?)
CR: 690 (Hoping for above 700 but close enough)
Writing: (710, 9 Essay, Same essays as last 2 times, already pulled off a 760, and oh yeah, this score don't matter!)

I'm done you stupid *ing *s!!!! No more of this *!!!! I dance on your head!!!!

Sorry about that, don't know where that came from :)

First (and last) attempt.

CR 760
Math 620 (was never good at it, so it follows that after two years of no math I would do even worse)
Writing 720 (I was expecting higher. Damn the essay.)

My first and definately NOT last attempt

CR 720 (should have gotten higher)
Math 640 (meh)
Writing 690 (I wanted 10 more damn points)

not bad considering i didnt really prep... ill get a tutor for next time..
can 760/700/720 be a realistic goal for next time?

Oooh, I didn't pay much attention to the percentiles, but in critical reading I scored in the 94 %ile. Now that makes me feel a lot better. I was in the 85 %ile for math. While they don't have writing ones yet, I would imagine that my highest writing score merits placement in the mid-high 90 %iles! Wow, if you think of it that way, the scores seem a lot better! Certainly colleges look at these %iles in order to gauge an applicant's strength in the overall applicant pool! Congrats to everyone. And may I suggest: please also post the %ile you scored in. I'm just curious. I'm sure it will be interesting to see who is where on CC (relative to the whole nation).

-Jon

P.S. And by no means do I believe that a single thread of CC posters is representative of an entire nation of SAT takers - let alone representative of the international population. But for our intents and purposes, I believe this thread is very likely representative of the CC population. Haha, my two cents.... :D

Hey guys....congrats on your high scores. It's the first time I have taken the SAT, and I have no idea if this is any good as an international: CR: 680 (93%), Math: 780(99%, damn that last slope grid-in.....if I had gotten it right...the score would've been 800:( ) and a 650 on the writing, with an 8 on the essay...I didn't expect to score so low on the CR and WR:) Do you think I should retake? Do the percentiles even show up in the reports sent to colleges, and if yes do they care about them? So a 2110 total score...I still hope they realize that some mistakes were made:) It is possible...they once gave me an extra 10 points in the SAT 2 Chem:P

By the way...I am a Junior from Eastern Europe:)

Nice job wainblatrobert! Yes, colleges do actually look at the percentiles. In fact, that's the purpose of the SAT - to discriminate among applicants! Although, IMO colleges usually have a good idea as to what certain scores represent and usually only look at the %iles to confirm (if at all).

wow... I'm definitely going to have to take this damn test again:
Critical Reading- 750 (98%)
Math- 720 (96%)
Writing- 690, Multiple Choice 66 (score range: 20-80), Essay 10
Total ( SAT w/o writing): 1470 new (w/writing): 2160
This was my first time taking the test; I self-studied for it. I was expecting a 750+ in math and at least a 700 in writing... pretty disappointed. On the plus side, my essay sucked horribly; I made up two fictitious events about Albert Einstein and James Watson and still managed to get a 10 somehow.

Here is a link from college board to the estimate of what the writing percentiles will be when they are set in Aug 2006.

If I were to take the test again, would colleges look at my best scores from each section, or my best scores from one sitting?

Best scores from each section, across sittings.

arg....
I got
cr: 590
wr: 520
math: 640
Im *ed off i practiced so much!! anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? it *es me off cuz, i can do crazy trig/calc and stuff...but i cant do simple SAT math!! i want an 800 for math!

Yay...I win the lowest score award.
CR: 580
WR:550
MATH: 570
(Is it weird that my highest math score is from my freshman year; they've gone downhill from there)

It's hard for me to believe that review would do anything for my scores. I did a little bit, and well, you see the results. My PSAT score was a 670/630/570.

780M 680V 720W (12/12)

Went from a 1390/1970 to a 1460/2180. Woo!

Thanks for the link kcpdmp! Unfortunately it's a bad link. But it's not your fault. I just went on College Board. The link there is bad too. But wait, did it work for you?

Ah, w/e. I imagine a 710 writing score would be in the 90 %iles anyway! :)

Actually the link worked for me. Weird!

710 is really good doolittle! And writing ain't that important a section anyway.

710 is 96% on on the link I sent. But remember this is only an estimate and the official percentiles won't be published until Aug 2006.
I'll try the link again here, it is a pdf, so you need Adobe Acrobat reader.

You can get to the link from this college board page:
http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/scores/understanding/percentiles.html

Ok thanks. It worked now. I guess I just didn't wait enough for it to load. Usually stuff loads quickly on my computer, so I just assumed it was a bad link. LOL, then again, Adobe originally said it was a damaged file when I saved it to my computer. Ah w/e, 96%!! Awesome.

So that puts me at:

CR: 94%
M: 85%
W: 96%*

Cool!! Thanks kcpdmp and good luck to everyone!

*Estimated, of course :D
