Lets double down on the Kansan contributions this page! These reputations are coming from the southeast corner of the state at a tiny little school in a highly agricultural community.

KU- Expensive (comparatively), huge, liberal, gay party school. Also a good place to go for medical programs, languages, or computer engineering. Awful football, but terrific basketball. Also has a sprawling campus that isn’t so attractive to some people, but some people love.

K-State- A pretty typical land-grant school. Highly agricultural and engineering oriented, but they do have several strong programs. In my area especially, considered the mecca for every farm child. Small college town with a classic campus atmosphere, slightly smaller student body than KU. Great football, and the basketball isn’t so bad either.

Wichita State- The closest to me, personally. Where kids from Wichita go because it’s cheap, and small town kids go to get out. Very good for co-ops, and the aerospace engineering and art programs are pretty good too. Basketball is on the rise, but the campus clears out every night as students flock back home. Lots of international students, especially from India. Not really a party school, but it is close to Old Town which isn’t a boring place at all.

Emporia State- Where people go to become teachers, or study business. Crappy town, but they just remodeled their student union, so there’s that.

Pittsburg State- They have good DII football, and they have some tradition where the teachers give students apples. All I really know.

Fort Hays State- Where the aforementioned farmers kids usually wind up because it’s dirt cheap. Good agribusiness, I guess, and I’ve heard the campus is nice.
