I’m sure it’s already been done in this thread but Texas:

Rice: I know about 3 people who have dared to apply to Rice. I imagine if you picked up a prestigious Northeastern school and dropped it in some nice houston suburbs, you’d end up with Rice.

UT- Austin: Just about everyone in Texas (with the exception of Aggies) has some longhorn paraphernalia, even if their parents didn’t even go to college. On the surface UT looks like some big dumb southern football school but really it’s got just about everything from great academics, to a great music scene, to raging parties. It’s extremely diverse and pretty different then any college in this area of the country. Pretty selective too unfortunately…

Texas A&M: If you enjoy being a cowboy, driving pick up trucks, chewing tobacco, and listening to country music till you die this is the place for you. My parents alma mater, located in the middle of no where. Great engineering. Extremely friendly people. School spirit. Beer. Not to mention they finally got that football thing figured out.

Texas Tech: Third choice. Surrounded by fields of wheat or whatever they grow out there. Not very good academics but if you want to stay in state then go for it.

U or Houston: Great school if you’re planning to live Houston for the rest of your life. Good for commuters and they have good programs for getting you in oil business.

SMU: So you might have been accepted to SMU, but you don’t actually go to SMU till you join a Frat. Lots of vodka, raging parties, and drunk beautiful girls(not that UT and TA&M don’t have beautiful girls). Pretty much this is a school for all you 1%ers and trust-funders. Its also a great school if you intend on living in Dallas for the rest of your life. Good business and great Law but most people would agree that its over priced.

TCU: the cheaper, trashier version of SMU with better sports

Baylor: nothing really distinguishes this school from any of the other ones. It’s cheaper than SMU and smarter than TCU. And there’s bears.

Trinity University: Actually a pretty good school. More liberal artsy, I think, and has good med programs along with good academics in general. Believe it or not, it’s secular. It’s ranked 1 in US News regional universities in the West. It’s a shame it doesn’t get more attention.

St. Edwards: A catholic university in Austin where all the rich hipsters who couldn’t get into UT go.

Austin College and Stephen F. Austin State: Our liberal arts colleges. Neither of which are in Austin. For those of you who don’t know your Texas history, Stephen F. Austin is our state’s founder.

Texas St: Liberal artsy college for some. Fourth choice for others.

UT San Antonio and UT El Paso: I would think these would be interesting schools because of the cities they’re in. They are probably more geared towards commuters.

UT Arlington, UT Dallas, and U of Dallas: pretty bad schools except for engineering in the Dallas one because of the Texas Instruments(calculators) head quarters. UTA or “UT Six Flags” has good mechanics because of a GM plant.

Austin Community College: “ACC”. Your last chance to get into UT- Austin…
