docrobert, those show paintings of savannah, did you do those while being in scad or were they part of your applying portfolio as well?

no, i did some of them while I was down there this summer and some of them when I got back.

Anyone with a photo portfolio?

:)

Uhhh, I'm not currently applying anywhere (I'm already in college, majoring in Linguistics) but I've started to get really into photography and I'm trying to work on a portfolio-esque type deal. If I develop enough I want to try to go to some kind of photog MFA program.

I'm generally interested in nature/landscape photography.

Tomorrow is portfolio day, and this is what im showing, plus a drawing or two. Fiona Sergeant's Photos - tentative port..maybe | Facebook

Im still a junior, but i plan on applying to a bunch of schools, first and foremost being SVA, RISD, MICA, and RIT for Photography, maybe photojournalism, since RIT makes you decide

Photo portfolio here =)

Applied to SVA, Pratt, St John's, and a few other schools with.

Montserrat and St. John's accepted it on NPD, and Pratt really didn't enjoy it... lol.

Be as brutal as possible!... (well.. maybe not THAT brutal..)

I know this is not the right forum but could someone help me

I was thiking about transfering to RISD, I got waitlisted last year and was close to getting in, but didn't, next on the list, with was a big suprise and confidence booster b/c my art teacher at the time basically said I couldn't get in and didn't like my work, she didn't actually say it but her expressions towards my work were not so good and she always had favorites

Well.......

I was woundering does RISD give Financal aid to Transfers and have they ever given a Full Schalorship, if so what did the person do to deserve it/ get it?

Alos I know you can take classes at Brown and Transfers as of now are not admitted into the dual degree program but has anyone ever got a degree from both schools with out offically being in the dual degree program becasue I would really like to get one from both, I have a plan if not but it would save time and money if transfers were allowed

Has anyone Transfer or not been accepted to RISD yet?
and if so can I see your portfolio.

brokenapertures, post yours!

hiddenvoice, your photos are pretty, but you should consider using ones that say more or have a stronger mood. flowers are inherently pretty, try to do something that shows off your skill as a photographer. also, try to include a wider variety of pictures, too many band pictures can start to look the same after a bit. dont forget to pay attention to the edges and shapes created in your pictures, think about composition. best of luck!

also, if someone could give me a super harsh and honest crit, that would be the best. portfolio day didnt really tell me anything...

Well, here we go.
Sent to SVA, Pratt, & SAIC.

okay, i have i post mine, no one says anything.

GREAT.

brokenapertures -- Though I'm probably not the best for critiquing photography (I can't take a decent photo to save my life), I gotta say that I loooooooooove the last two digital layering photos. :)

With the "mixing fashion with genders" photos, is it a series that explores androgyny or gender roles?

edit: I keep going back to look at the first photo from the "mixing fashion with genders" set -- It's a ridiculously beautiful photo with an absolutely exquisite model! Luminous!

Haha, thanks!
It's really up to your interpretation. I would say probably that it explores both androgyny AND gender roles. I chose that title because the blonde model is a guy, but looks like a girl and is playing the girl in the photossss!

The blonde model is a guy? I thought so, how lovely. :)

I really like the concept of that set and I would look forward to seeing more if you're going to be expanding on that theme. Kudos, and keep it up!

haha, wow, thats a guy? one of my friends did a shoot of androg over the summer, always fun.

Haha yes, it's a guy.

And thank youu.

^^^^

What kind of camera and lens are you using?

also, how often do you use photoshop? i was talking to someone who never left anything unedited, i was wondering if this was common?
