Yeah, it's not a factor, though. I know for a fact that Ben didn't connect your username and your real name until they were through quite a bit (or possibly all) of selection. :)

I'll repeat: nobody gets into MIT on the strength of their postings on College Confidential or the MIT blogs.

"Well, I guess he will ended in UCB's EECS, which is not that bad."

Oh how awful that he has to settle for such a second-tier school, except for the fact that UCB is one of the top schools in the country. I mean I understand the resentment a little bit because of anecdotal evidence showing that it is more difficult for Asian-Americans to be accepted to MIT. At the same time if your son has the same mentality as you, as in he views attending UCB as settling for something "not that bad," then all I have to say is he didn't deserve a spot at MIT.

I realize this quote by the original poster was already commented on but I felt it was worth mentioning again because of how strange it is to say your son will have to settle for UCB whch is "not that bad." simply ridiculous.

I can verify this, as well, in case it matters at all. Just don't ask me how. I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. ;)
