800 - bio
790 - chem
780 - math 2

Bio M - 800 (frosh), 5 (soph)

I hear Barron's is awesome for Physics.

Damnit, I have heard it is awesome and I have heard it is horrible...

what's good for biology?

World History 800
Physics 800

For Physics, Barron's is terrible. Almost all the material it covers goes waaaaaayyyy too in-depth. It looks as if it was designed to aid engineers in graduate school. Use either Sparknotes or Princeton Review, and if you can afford it, do both. They both cover the same topics at the same difficulty level, but Sparknotes has a lot of typos (at least the edition I used, 2003-2004), although its practice tests are better than PR's.

Use those two like I did and you will score well.

First time I took the tests (all in one session), drunk from a party the night prior:

Math IIC: 700
Writing: 670
Chem: 720

Second attempt (all in one session), feeling a lot better:

Math IIC 800
Physics 800 (didn't wanna go through that Chem hell again)
Writing 760

For Math IIC: Sparknotes... oh my god touch anything else and you're wasting time. Barrons will overload you with stuff you don't need to know for the test.

Physics: PR is pretty good but it won't ensure an 800. Understand the PR guide and then use Sparknotes to fill in the remaining bits of info PR didn't cover. Barrons, again, is too much here. It will just confuse you. PR is to-the-point and gives nice examples.

Writing: Just don't suck at writing and look at a practice test to see that the types of errors the test uses are the same.

legendofmax,

So you're saying that Barron's Math IIC prep book wastes one's time? I am about to order one really soon, only because it is useful to get a high score, according to the rest of the chat forum. Hmmmmmmmm... Sparknotes, or Barron's?

Definitely use Sparknotes. A friend of mine let me borrow Barrons and it was just too much. I'm sure if you can master the book you can easily 800 the test but it's really a bit overkill. Sparknotes teaches you what you need to know and it covers things that will pretty much be on the test. I also recommend "5 More Practice Tests" by Sparknotes for the IIC, which helped me more than anything (the only book I bought really). It not only gives you the tests, but the answers and how to get to those answers.

After taking the practice tests and looking at all the nifty shortcuts the book helps you out with, it was really easy to do well on the actual test itself. A lot of Barrons stuff won't ever be on the test.

I guess Sparknotes is the answer then!

Totally... you won't be disappointed if you read Sparknotes all the way through and take the practice tests. It's excellent prep.

im guessing sparknotes is the best for the SAT II then

Just read sparknotes online (for free!) and order Barron's - or whatever else you want - in print. It's like buy one get one free, except you don't need to buy the first one.

Haha theoneo... Sparknotes online is the way to go, eh?

IIC+Phy+Chem=2400

wow...i better do as good as u people when i take the SAT IIs

wow is this just a thread for people to brag about how well they did on the SAT II's? I have a hard time believing this is representative of everyone on cc...

by the way, I got a 780 on IIc. that's right, I'm living proof that a few people exist that don't have perfect 800s on it. o_O

physics: 800
mathII: 800
spanish: 790

JJ - use Kaplan for the SAT II and CliffsAP for the AP.

780, 800...both are close enough anyway.

Do you think freshman bio and genetics sophmore year is enough to take the SAT 2 Bio test.
