I need to know who got in, and why. I want to figure out if I have the slightest chance, and this also gives an outlet for people to celebrate and brag.

here ya go:
1440 SAT, top 20% of class, 4.5 GPA, 12 AP tests total, 10 AP classes, (4,4,4,4,4,3, dont know the rest of the scores yet), track and field (3 letters), wrestling (1 letter and cocaptain, 2 years JV), cross country (1 letter, 1 patriot award), Eagle Scout, Senior Patrol Leader, DCI Div I Drum Corps (Kiwanis Kavaliers), Debate Team, Key Club, Founder and Pres. of Engineering Club, 5 years marching band, 1 year Drum Major, ....I am sure theres other stuff, but I can't really remember without pulling out the resume or racking my brain (which i am not doing)
Oh CFA scores: 96 ft throw, 6 pullups, 9.2 shuttle run, 59 situps, 73 pushups, 7:18 mile run...pushups saved me really, I believe, my run that day was atrocious, must have been the hottest most humid day possible...anyhow, hope this helps...The hardest part in my opinion is getting through the application process. I recieved my LOA in february as soon as they received my transcript and nomination.

Remember they are looking for well rounded individuals. Good grades aren't enough at the USMA, you need demonstated leadership, service, and athletic participation. I have heard of few Cadets who never played a high school sport.

1450 SAT, didn't graduate hs, no AP classes, played football two years, E-5 active army ADA, 310 APFT

Is that 59 sit ups in a minute? That test will save me, I can do like 70.

So what if I do a pretty much stellar job on all the athletic tests, but my high school sports aren't that impressive, I just never found one I liked very much so I quit them at frosh level.

1300 SAT 3.22 GPA 1 AP Class with a 1 on the test. 1 Varsity Letter and Captain for Lacrosse. Eagle Scout. Not great CFA scores. Go NMMI!

Theres a good post somewhere with everyones stats if you search for it. But here goes.

i think I had something like 66 sit ups, 55 pushups, 11 pull ups, an 80 foot bball throw, and a 6:39 mile

CFA:
7:11 mile, 7 pull ups, 43' BB throw (thank God I'm a girl-- I barely even passed the minimum female standard on that event...), 40 push ups, 95 sit ups, 9.5 shuttle run

School:
4.25 GPA, 11th in a class of 400+, ~14 honors/AP classes, 29 ACT, 630M 680V 630W on SAT

(if minorities get any sort of preferance in the application process...)

Decision:
Class of 2010, baby!

dang girl, thats some serious fitness level you're at on p/u and pull-ups

...grades are decent too ;)

I'll be okay as long as I don't have to go around throwing basket balls at people, anyway :)

just grenades ;)

SAT 1360, ACT 30, HS GPA: 3.45, no APs, lots of college credit while in HS. Attended Washington and Lee U, GPA: 3.0. Did a year of ROTC at the neighboring Virginia Military Institute. Eagle Scout, Senior Patrol Leader, organized a weeklong Scout trip, studied abroad in Salzburg, Austria for three weeks, President of Band and Model UN. I was in a lot of different clubs both in HS and in college. No sports in HS.

I think I got something like 65 Push, 75 Sit, 12 Pull, 6:49 Run, 68 Bball (I think), 8.2 Shuttle.

Also, I obtained four nominations for USMA. I was 2nd in my district, I got one from my Senator, an automatic President and one for ROTC. HOWEVER, I was waitlisted because they lost my paperwork for about a month, and I had to re-submit teacher evaluations.

Good luck, Godfather. Even if you don't get in the first time around, apply again!

My stats are much like Keri's, I'll end up higher on the SAT, same GPA approximately.

I'm worried about the mile. I can do a hundred pushups before passing out figuratively, and I can do 70+ situps in a minute, but my mile is in the mid 7s, 8s on a bad day.

Start running then. I suggest Cross Country, it did wonders for me. My run started at about 9:00+ last Feb if I remember correctly. On my CFA I got it down to 7:15ish and now I am almost breaking 6:00 (soon I hope!! Its like an impassible wall...)

So what grade are you in, Godfather?

The sooner you start working on improving the run, though, the better. I started my junior year running a mile in 9:50, but it's come down to below 7 since I started the orienteering team (kinda like cross country, I guess...)

If nothing else, just make a habit out of running a few miles every day. Later on, after your body's more comfortable with distances, focus on gradually improving your speed. Once your distance times begin dropping you should be able to run a single mile much faster and with out as much effort as before.

Well I'm a junior, with a mile ranging from 7:30 to 8:00. What should it be for the sake of being a competitive applicant?

The problem is, the cross country team at my school isn't something you can just join. If my school has money for anything, it's the cross country team. We put all the little bit of money we do have into sports, and for some reason, lower middle class kids are good at sports. So it's hard to make the teams.

"We put all the little bit of money we do have into sports, and for some reason, lower middle class kids are good at sports. So it's hard to make the teams."

I am most likely understanding this wrong, but are you basicly saying you are too rich to run cross country? Even if you can't run cross country for whatever reason, you can get out and run on your own. Try and run atleast a mile over your target. This Theard has some advice on how to improve your scores on the CFA and otherwise.
