Post your stats if you got a request for financial aid forms

are all the ppl that received this letter people that were missing required items from their fa application? because i've turned in my fafsa, css, taxes, everything & i highly doubt they would contact me for more fa information no matter how qualified i am..

I have all of my forms in. My online account verifies that I have all my forms in. I did not get a letter.

OMG IS IT A SIGN?!?!?!!?

Stop trying to infer things, just wait at most 4 more weeks.

Why doesn't someone just call the school and ask if there is any correlation.... I doubt that all 30000 applicants have applied for fin aid, so this might just be a form letter to everyone whose financial aid papers aren't complete, just like they notify you when your application isn't complete...

^ I doubt calling would help. The person on the other end of the phone is going to say there is no correlation. Even if there is and it is indeed a sign, i highly doubt they'd tell you over the phone.

That said, i did recieve the letter today to. My mom just showed me it my stats are

3.8 uW
ACT: 34
SAT II: 800 USH, 760 math II, 710 chem
some national awards, all-american in soccer (didn't tell the coach i was applying though), some other stuff
awesome recs etc, etc

what we should do though is post in this thread when the decisions are released to verify or debunk any possible correlation between this letter and acceptances at all..

guitarhero5: if you look on the Cornell website, it specifically tells you to send a special financial application form and 2006 income taxes

Just read through the stats of people who have received letters. Everyone is more than qualified for Cornell, and I've heard some people saying that they are sure they didn't send some forms in, yet they didn't receive a letter(Meg-something comes to mind I forgot her name). There is definitely a correlation between the acceptance and the letter from what I've seen so far.

^^disagree, I got it w/...

etc. etc.

I didn't receive it and hadn't sent in my 2006 returns. However, I did file the FAFSA and CSS profiles, and my CSS had information from my parents' 2006 return on it because of early decision stuff. I just sent them the returns for 2006 and 2007.

Guys, why get your hopes up? Decisions are four weeks ago. Worrying about this is just one more way to drive yourself crazy if Cornell really is your number one school. It's not a wise thing to do. Just take it at face value that it's nothing more than the financial aid doing their job. That's it, nothing more, nothing less.

i applied early to cornell and i knew i was missing finaid materials, but they never contacted me. i figured i wouldnt get in, and i was right, i got deferred. i got the finaid letter a few days ago. i dont want to get my hopes up, but logically, i think they would only ask for the completed finaid forms for students who have extremely good chances of getting in. It wouldnt make sense for them, at this point, to ask everyone else for their completed finaid forms. but then again, who am i to say what this means. well surely find out at the end of the month

just tlaked to my older bro, who happens to go to cornell (class of 2010). he said he got a finaid letter right before decisions were released. i hope this is a good sign.

i got the letter in e-mail form and i made it clear on my application that i would not be applying for financial aid!
i dont like to post stats but i am a strong candidate with a very weak cr score.

here is my e-maill:

Dear Prospective Cornellian:
Thank you for your application to Cornell University! We're sure the college selection process is an exciting and challenging one for you and your family.
If you have no interest in applying for financial aid, please feel free to read no further and simply delete this message. However, if you are interested in applying for aid, read on.
We are writing to inform you that as of March 3, 2008, Cornell has not received a financial aid application from you. While the initial application deadline was January 4, we are still accepting applications without penalty. Please visit our website to complete the application process:

Hi, I'm an international applicant who got the letter just now. I really don't think this means I'm going to be accepted, but I'm a bit worried. I'm sure I sent in all my materials, so why do they say they didn't receive a finaid application from me? They didn't even say some forms, they said they didn't receive ANYTHING. And everything I sent in along with my finaid documents (I mean in the same envelope) seem to be there. And in my self-service account, it says there's nothing missing in my finaid to do list..
Could there be a mistake?

if you think there is a mistake.....give them a call!

Me too. I just had that mail. I am more than sure I sent in everything yet they claim to have received nothing. I am so ConFused. Their to do list said I ain't got zilch to do. Oh gosh-...

E.Cs Not much,
Awards- a whole lot

I never indicated that I was interested in financial aid, but I still got an email. However, it does say that "if I have no interest in applying for financial aid" I should just delete the message. I'm not sure if there's a correlation...but it seems like Cornell would be careful not to release admission hints before the notification date. & I'm trying not to be too optimistic...
