I love Lolita. It took me forever to finish, though.
Hmm, I've got a few pages left of Anthem.
Also:
Jane Eyre (need to finish for AP English class :P )
The Last Temptation of Christ
Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot (the last two are my boyfriend's books, i really need to read them and give them back)
I want to read Slaughterhouse-Five.

Somehow, I doubt I'll finish all of this over winter break :P

The Communist Manifesto
Candide (just for the hell of it)
The Accidental Investment Banker (maybe)
Whatever else I need to read for AP Euro and AP Econ.

If I can, I will just relax and try not to do any school related things. I need and feel I deserve a break.

Wow, I'm reading Lolita too. I chose it for my AP Lit research paper.
I figured I'd also read The Perks of Being a Wallflower...a lot of people said I would like it. And I'm going to try to fit in The Idiot's Guide to Understanding Philosophical Ethics. Figure I'd better brush up on Philosophy before I go for it in college ^_^

Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot is such a funny book....i love al franken.

perks of being a wallflower! i loved that book.

i want to finish freakonomics during break. i have one more chapter left. and then it's off to breakfast of champions (got it for 50 cents at a flea market).

CRY THE BELOVED COUNTRY!!! BLARRRR!!! We're reading that in AP Lit right now. I want to smack it with a steel bat. I hate it so much it makes me cry. :(

100 Years of Solitude (for AP Lit term paper)

From Beirut to Jerusalem by Thomas L Friedman

The World is Flat by Thomas L Friedman (yeah, so I asked for Friedman for Christmas)

Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie

re-reading Faye Kellerman, because that's all I ever seem to do.

Are you guys planning on finishing all of the books? How long are your breaks?

The Other Boleyn Girl (400 pages left!)
& hopefully other books, if not too bogged down by crazy assignments/midterms

Cry the Beloved Country is one of my favorite books of all time! Have plenty of Kleenex nearby!

Lolita - also for an english project
Finish up As I Lay Dying
And hopefully get started on either Bonfire of the Vanities or The Satanic Verses

Cry... would be so much better if we didn't have to spend 10 days discussing each page (it seems like that, at least). I've really liked the class thus far, but the book is being stretched out far too much than it should be.

Oh, and I should say that I averaged about 1 book a day last August, so reading a couple books over break should be too difficult. :p Hopefully my break will consist of me secluding myself in my room jumping up and down because of my Brandeis acceptance.

Wow, what losers. Who reads these days? I mean, come on, reading is for chumps.

LOL, j/k. That is great that you all are reading these awesome books. Sadly for me though, I don't think I'll have the intellectual will to read after winter break swim practices...ugh

www.commonapp.org

..yeah.

I think I might finally be able to get to Atlas Shrugged. so far that's as far as I've planned.

omg godot made absolutely no sense..
do urself a favor and read something else lol

This is ridiculous.

How are you guys getting so much work?

RA Salvatore's series Legacy of the Drow, Ender's Game (I heard it's very good), and some of Ralph W. Emerson's essay and poetry writings.

Waiting for Godot is AWESOME. Minimalist and existential is what art should be. Theatre of the Absurd is the theatre of the GODS...

Its merit is in the fact that it doesn't make sense.
