So I got a postcard from UT saying happy holidays, thanks for your patience blah blah.

It told me that they were going to try to get all their decisions out by the beginning of April (oh lord). I'm guessing this is more for the out of staters or non top 10% people in TX? (I'm out of state)

Well anyways, I was just wondering, does anybody know if they ask to see first semester grades for senior year? I'm wondering if I'll get a letter like that soon or something.

What could I possibly do to enhance my status? My first semester grades are going to be okay, nothing special nothing terrible, I'm projecting a 3.6 or 3.7 (pretty tough senior courseload too)... Even though they haven't asked to see them would it help to send em in? And as for clubs, jobs etc, if I have news to share with those, would that help at all? Like if I had a new leadership position, got a new job etc. Basically what can I do to stand out?!

Also, would it be a good idea to play it safe and send out my housing soon? Even though I don't know if I'll get in I would hate to find out in April that I got in and then get stuck with the worst dorms.

If you have interest in attending UT you should put in the housing application now. Many applicants fill it out way before sending in the Texas Common App. There's also private housing options available at
www.austindorms.com

Yes. Apply for housing and consider that $50 as an investment in a possibility. DS applied for housing at 6:40 a.m. on September 1st to be safe! I do believe that they were able to offer all freshman housing contracts last year, but priority in choosing which housing has to do with the date of your housing ap and $50 deposit - so the sooner you get it in, the better!

Yeah, you wont get first-choice housing. Period. On September 1 in the late afternoon, UT said there was no need to send in anymore housing apps until November because of the extreme number of applicants on that day. I began my application at 6 am on Sept. 1 and kept getting kicked off the server until it finally was accepted at 6:40 am. So yeah, housing is going to be kind of hard.

Did you send in your transcript from the end of your junior year? That's what I did (I'm already accepted into McCombs and Plan II EC, enrolled for Fall 2007), and it works fine. The only reason why you would need to send in a newer transcript is if your GPA or rank goes up. If it's gotten worse, then don't bother. They will need to see a final senior transcript at the end of the year if you're accepted, but nothing until then.

As for resume stuff, I don't think it will make a difference. UT has thousands upon thousands of hopeful applicants, and they've specifically said that they don't want anything more than the required forms. So I don't think they would care unless it's something HUGE.

What are your stats anyway?
