<p>Just a quick question. I've posted a few of my essays directly on these forums, looking for peer reviews. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I'm beginning to worry a bit that some people might just see the essays and steal them?</p>
<p>Is this a problem that I should be worried about on CC, or am I just being paranoid?</p>
<p>Not a good idea. You can try asking the mods to take them down.</p>
<p>I read the FAQ, and it says that CC won’t delete posts upon request. I guess I’ll just have to hope that there is no one too cutthroat on these boards.</p>
<p>Pinned to the top of the essay board is advice that says it’s not wise to post essays because people may steal them. That’s true on CC and on other Internet sites. Instead of posting essays, ask for people to read them, and review the posting history of responders before you share your essays with them. </p>
<p>I have applied for a lot of things in my life – including successfully applying to elite colleges and top fellowships and internships – and never showed my essays to anyone. I’d trust my own judgment over that of strangers on the Internet. If I had shown my essay to anyone it would have been a teacher, not an uninformed peer.</p>
